Football Recruiting Previewing another big OV weekend for Saban, Alabama

Alabama is set to host its biggest group of talent to date in regards to OVs with several major targets including a few commits as well.

This is the time for the Crimson Tide to make a move and it seems that things are falling in place for that exactly.

Football Recruiting Another official visitor confirmed for the weekend

As discussed in the OV breakdown about an hour ago, Williams was a candidate to visit this weekend and he just confirmed with me moments ago.

He’s working to book a flight. Ignore his ranking because the staff is VERY high on the Florida pass rusher and may not let him leave campus without a commitment.

More to come on Williams.

Football Recruiting Five-star QB Julian Sayin ready for Elite 11

Spoke with five-star quarterback Julian Sayin earlier today prior to him getting to the Elite 11 and Sayin is pumped.

Following the Rivals rankings release where Sayin came in at No. 4 overall, he has plenty of praise around his name but his goal is to prove it on the highest stage.

Sayin will have a full opportunity to show just why he’s the best quarterback in the nation this week at the best event for QBs.

More updates to come on the top prospect in the Alabama class who’s also set for an upcoming OV.

Football Recruiting Commitment Candidates: Tide trending for several prospects?

Around this time of the year Alabama starts to go on a run and either flips or gains the attention their primary targets.

This year is no different as the Tide seem to be lurking as they prepare for their typical pre-season/summer push.

Speaking with several people in and around the program there are several names that seem to be “trending” towards the Tide.

Now at the end of the day we are dealing with kids and as we’ve all seen before, things can change at any moment but here are a few names that stand out as commitment candidates.

First one we have to bring up is Demarcus Riddick.

Riddick has flirted with Bama since the start of the year and things have only heated up. With Riddick set to visit Tuscaloosa this weekend, the writing could be on the wall for where this is headed.

There is confidence on the Bama side of things and them getting him on campus is simply put, major at this point.

More to come.

Hampton is very back in forth in terms of his communication and want to do interviews. That said, according to all reports he enjoyed his visit and if you ask some Alabama may have already had the lead heading into the weekend.

The Tide see Hampton at WR and he’s built a strong bond with Coach Wiggins. Apparently he even stayed the longest out of any of the recruits last weekend.

He has friends on staff and has versatility to play both sides of the ball. Looking like a Bama lean at this time.

Gude dropped his Top 5 yesterday including the Tide with his commitment date set for July 6th.

If you speak with those close to Gude and you follow the visits, Gude has spent a considerable amount of time in Tuscaloosa. He also already has a teammate (Dontrell Glover) committed who’s pushing hard for him and apparently the staff has been selling him on the idea of playing the role Brian Branch played.

Gude is very interested to say the least.

Poe has been a player that I’ve felt could end up in the class since the first time we connected nearly a year ago.

His background, hometown and work ethic all scream Alabama. Taking those things into account the other schools recruiting him aren’t just going to go away easily, it will be a battle.

That said, Coach Wolford has done a good job here and Saban is held in high regard for Poe and his entire family, so much so it may be hard for him to pass up the opportunity.

Alabama will be his last OV. Just keep that in mind as he plans to commit prior to the season.

Last but not least….

Solomon Williams I’m some regards come out of nowhere to be in this category but apparently Alabama and primary Coach Hutzler has been very consistent.

According to sources close to the program they view Williams as one of the top prospects in the county and really worked hard to get him on campus this weekend.

Ignore the rating here, he is a wanted man in Tuscaloosa and his visit this weekend could spell the end of his recruitment if this go well.

We will see.

Bringing baseball coach Jason Jackson back was a 'no-brainer'

Before Greg Byrne could even suggest the idea of keeping Jason Jackson on the staff, new Alabama baseball coach Rob Vaughn was already a step ahead of his new boss.

"It was a no-brainer."

Football Recruiting Final updates from a busy OV weekend, Alabama trending for several targets?

The visitor list changed quite drastically heading into the weekend with Corian Gipson, Joel Rogers and Preston Taumua deciding not to make the trip.

The official OV list for the weekend was:

Aeryn Hampton
Amari Jefferson
Daniel Calhoun
Demello Jones
Isiah Faga
Rico Scott
Jordan Seaton

Following up on the visit, there are several updates on some of the following players that we have not discussed.

In talking with people close to Scott, his OV to Bama was everything he could’ve dreamed for and he all but locked in his commitment to Alabama.

Alabama has been on him consistently and has made his entire family feel welcome.

Scott feels he can come in and learn the Rees offense quickly adapting to the physically and speed of SEC play. He will now turn his attention to recruiting others.

Also, according to those close to him. Scott essentially has an agent. So he doesn’t plan to do too many interviews without approval or pay.

Jones has been one to watch really since he committed to Georgia.

Alabama was always seen as a major contender but then he up and committed to the Bulldogs but with Jones on campus it’s given him and his family plenty to consider.

If a change were to happen it would most likely come later on but for now, the Tide find themselves in position to push for the Rivals250 target.

Keep an eye on Jones.

From the sounds of it, despite his weekend visit to Alabama for an OV Faga could still be firmly committed to Utah.

Faga all but avoided any questions about Auburn or Alabama, two schools pushing very hard for his services.

With family in Utah and Utes being on him early, paired with their winning culture, it may be hard for Faga to flip.

If he were to entertain the idea it would be a complete family decision. For now, no change is imminent.

Seaton changed things up with his move to IMG academy and with the amount of influence on that staff it’s no surprise that Alabama has made quite the push with the dominant o-line target.

Following this weekend, Seaton is a player you have to continue to monitor with Alabama feeling good about Calhoun and with Seaton on campus one could say they feel the same.

Alabama has Joseph Ionata on board already, one could say they’re trending for Casey Poe and then Calhoun and Seaton could be viewed as the top priorities in the class.

Alabama laid out the red carpet for Seaton this past weekend and according to sources close to the program, he left impressed.

Hampton already has a future cast to the Crimson Tide and after this past weekend. It’s hard to see that changing anytime soon.

Look for Hampton to make his final decision next month and right now the Crimson Tide sit pretty. That said, with Hampton things can always change but he just has a great relationship and GamePlan with the Tide.

Hampton enjoyed himself this past weekend and the lure to play with his childhood friend (Jalen Hale) is hard to ignore.

If things continue to trend this direction, unless some unforeseen change. He should be a huge get for the Crimson Tide, who look to be taking a hard look at Texas talent.
