Bediako breaks out 'Angry Chuck' persona in win over Maryland

Alabama's Charles Bediako played a little angrier with a chance at revenge against Jalen Reese.

Thoughts on Alabama's Blowout Win Over Maryland

It wasn't pretty at the start, but it's how you finish that matters. Alabama did just that. They are moving on to the Sweet 16 for the second time in 3 years and they've been dominant this weekend in Birmingham. It was a very slow start for Alabama offensively, but the elite defense kept the Maryland offense at bay the whole first half. That is one thing about this team. A slow offensive night will not deter them from playing their tail off on defense. That was an incredible defensive showing.

Jahvon Quinerly does what Jahvvon Quinerly does by scoring 22 points and Brandon Miller scored 19 on an inefficient night shooting. Charles Bediako played a great game as well scoring 10 points with 10 rebounds. He affected so many shots at the rim and kept Reese at bay most of the day. Alabama shot 39% from the floor and only made 6 threes, but still score 73 on a solid defensive team that likes to push you around. The defense held Maryland to 1-8 shooting and shooting 25%. They dominated the boards 44-32 and forced 13 turnovers. Just an all around elite effort.

Next up: San Diego State. I will have more on them throughout the week, but they are a bad offensive team that plays great defense. They remind me of Texas A&M but worse on offense. Alabama will have to shoot better that game, but it will be a race to 60 to see who wins. 4 more to go!

10 best Bama BB teams

I meant to post this a few days ago, but we have a lot of long time Bama BB fans on this board, and I was curious who were the teams over the years that you had the most confidence in coming into the NCAA tournament. I started watching Bama BB in ‘84. My list will cause a lot of pause amongst some on here, because my confidence level does not always correspond to our seeding coming into the tournament.

1. ‘23 - before I heard about B Miller’s injury.
2. ‘87 - just super unlucky with Providence.
3. ‘90 - still know we should have beat that Loyola team.
4. ‘89 - that team came in hot, and was vastly underrated imop.
5. ‘21 - FT shooting killed us that night.
6. ‘02 - just didn’t have a good gut feeling on this team.
7. ‘91 - really talented team, but Arkansas was just so good that year.
8. ‘85 - really thought we were going to beat NC St in the sweet 16.
9. ‘86 - played a really talented Kentucky team tough in the sweet 16. The Terry Coner shot to beat Illinois in the game prior was one of the best Bama BB moments for me in my lifetime.
10. ‘92 - played like crap in the 2nd round vs North Carolina.

The ironic thing, is that, the only team to advance as far as the Elite 8, wasn’t even one of the top 10 teams I ever saw, or had confidence in. That, basically, goes to show you what a crap shoot this tournament is.

If this article is true, a TPD Officer should be relieved of duty and more.

As a former law enforcement officer I hope his article is not true, but the facts make a lot more sense than anything I have heard. If the video shows what the reporter says the Tuscaloosa DA has a duty to immediately release the video and drop the charges against Miles. Felony murder charges would be warranted against Johnson and. the charges against Davis would be at most Criminal Negligent Homicide and Detective Culpepper should consider hiring a good attorney. I would hate to be on the Tuscaloosa City Councilman and Mayor if this article is true. If TPD has placed Brandon Miller’s life in jeopardy, may someone help the city treasury.

An realistic and plausible account of events.

Thoughts on Alabama’s Resounding Victory over Texas A&M-CC

Alabama looked like the #1 overall seed and played like it for majority of the game. They started out on fire hitting 10 threes in the first half, with 4 different players hitting a 3. There were some lulls when guys like Clowney (who was brilliant hitting 3 threes) got in foul trouble and Bediako as well, but overall they played magnificent.

Texas A&M-CC fought back a lot and you expect that from a team full of seniors. What was a sign of fantastic depth was Alabama scoring 96 points without Brandon Miller scoring a single point. You had guys like Mark Dears, Noah Clowney, Nick Pringle, and Jahvon Quinerly step up. Miller never seemed in sync within the game and was taking it easy out there you could tell. Possibly the groin/thigh injury bothering him.

Nick Pringle had a great game in the 2nd half scoring 19 points and having 15 rebounds overall. He has been a revelation for the Tide when having to play extended minutes.

Alabama hit 15/34 threes and dominated the board/paint and that’s why they were never in trouble at all. There are times in these 1/16 games where the 1 can sleepwalk, which happened today, but they know when to turn it up. When CC got it to within 12 early in the second half, Alabama had a 8-0 run in 70 seconds to put the game out of reach.

Alabama moves on to play Maryland on Saturday who had a dog fight against West Virginia today.
