Football 🏈 How 'Sharks' have become a big part of Alabama's offense

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — There’s a new nickname among Alabama’s position groups.

The Crimson Tide already has a few unique position names on defense, including the Bandit (strongside defensive end), Wolf (weakside edge rusher) and Husky (slot defensive back). Position designations on offense are more traditional. However, the Tide’s receivers refer to themselves as “takers.”

Recently a new designation surfaced, as C.J. Dippre announced that the tight ends call themselves the sharks. The nickname has been going around for a while now. However, unlike other positional terms, it has more to do with the unit’s actions off the field rather than on it.

“We’ve got a couple of guys that like to play some poker, so just kind of poker sharks,” tight end Robbie Ouzts said. “But at the same time, we kind of swim together is what we like to say. It’s kind of more of a mentality thing.”

Scary Stat on Deboer

Deboer's big time college football coaching in my opinion started in 2022 at Washington! He has coached in 34 games since the the start of 2022, including 6 here at Alabama! 17 which is 50% of his big time college games were decided by 1 possession! Well if that is the norm with him, and our last 3 games points in that direction we are in for some heart aches! Not a end all be all, but not a great sign for Bama fans with blood pressure issues!🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️😂🤣 Buckle up and hang on for the ride! Roll Tide!

Has NIL destroyed great defenses??

I’ll admit that I don’t watch very much football anymore. I may or may not watch Bama and I sure don’t have a clue what is going through n at other schools. I, like a lot of other Bama fans, I think are still hung up on having multiple studs at all three levels of the defense and I am not sure that we see that any longer anywhere. The last time I can recall it was at UGA in maybe year three for Kirby but even he with his brilliance hasn’t been able to replicate what he did for nearly two decades in the college game. Not trying to blame everything that is wrong in the world on NIL but how else do you explain it, or am I just overlooking all of the stockpiled defensive talent across the nation???
