The Problem is Two Fold

As I see it, Alabama is suffering from poor coaching on O and D while at the same time the SEC has gotten stronger and more talented with better coaching. This combined makes whatever talent advantage we may have disappear and we struggle against good opposition. It was bound to happen, especially with NIL money floating around and only CNS can correct it. New coaches with better schemes and abilities to inspire our players are needed ASAP. If this doesn't happen, we will continue to struggle in the SEC and slip into mediocrity.

Football 🏈 Everything Nick Saban said during his Monday press conference

Monday signifies a new week as Alabama begins its preparations for No. 11 Ole Miss. Here are the highlights from Nick Saban's Monday press conference. The press conference is scheduled to begin at noon, updates will appear shortly.

— "I know people have written us off to a certain degree, but we have a lot of pride as an organization. ... We had four games come down to the last play of the game. We won two and lost two of them and we didn't execute down the stretch."

— "I'm sure [Ole Miss] is going to want to put up on their mantel, 'We beat Alabama, too.' It's a matter of whether we're going to allow that to happen or whether we're going to do everything we can to avoid it."

— Saban asked about Bill O'Brien: "There's things that we need to do better. I'm not gonna analyze anybody publicly, good, bad or indifferent."

— Saban on Bryce Young's shoulder health: "Everything he's telling us is that he's fine ... we need to do a better job around Bryce."

— Saban on coordinators: "I hear every play that is called and every defense that is called and I have the right to veto any of those calls. ... Ultimately the responsibility falls upon me."

Jeff Scott Fired at USF

Former Clemson Co-Offensive Coordinator, Jeff Scott, has been fired by USF. Scott is in his third year as head coach at USF. He has not been very successful as a head coach, but his credentials as an OC are pretty good. Some people are not meant to be head coaches and some situations are not good places to be a head coach. Scott was Co-OC at Clemson for about 5 years and Clemson won two National Titles in that time frame. Of Course Clemson did have two fairly good QB's that aided him. I am not saying Alabama should consider Scott as a replacement for BoB, I am just saying that he is available for the Saban rehab program.

LSU

IMO there is a good chance they lose this week at Arkansas, which is a classic trap game…Arkansas has what it takes on offense to cause them problems and a defense with very good LB’s to contain Daniels (one of which I wish we still had)…I also think if that happens, the final at A&M could be very interesting…wouldn’t it be ironic if Jimbo ends up in a position to help us win the west…wishful thinking I know but I’m taking a shot:cool:

Your pick for new coordinators

I know we have D and O coordinators already. However, I do believe there needs to be some changes this off season amongst the staff. We all know for the last couple years there has been no progression with this team. That being said who would y’all like to see as coordinators?
For the O I would like Briles from Arkansas and for D I torn on gettin Pruitt back

Does Coach Saban hire assistant coaches for

mainly how good of coaches they are or how good they are at recruiting?
I know most would say the best at both but we don’t seem to be playing at the level of our talent. Our defense seems to be be playing out of position more often!
On offense we seem to be running to many times on first down. Second and eight seems to be a trend.
What do you all think?
ROLL TIDE ROLL!

Tua

Watching the Dolphins Bears game. Tua threw a pass over the middle and the announcer started raving about Tua's progress this year. He mentioned how Tua cleared out the middle with his eyes to create the passing opportunity and how that showed progress. I said someone needs to remind him how Tua moved the safety when he threw the TD pass that won us the National Championship his freshman year. The difference is adding Tyreek Hill more than pro experience.

He is leading the NFL in a number of passing categories and Waddle and Hill are among the top three duos for receiving yards through the first 8 games. He looks like the old Tua.

Final Play

The final play is indicative of our problems right now…every team in football from pee wee to the pros runs that same formation and play inside the 5 yard line…there is no way we didn’t know what was coming…so here is my point…we have Will Anderson who is arguably the best outside LB/DE in football…why was he lined up to the back side of the play…we should have used a time out, and had Will on the right side, to the QB’s hand, with instructions to blow upfield and force him to pull up…granted, the kid made a perfect throw and it was a clutch catch, but we gave them a look that didn’t do anything to disturb the rhythm…for the life of me I don’t understand the lack of in game adjustments by this staff…same thing at Tennessee…we never made any adjustment to their wide combo formations that got us caught with a safety on their best receiver…Ricks was on the bench the entire game…why not eat your ego and put him out there and play man to man on Hyatt wherever he went…look Nic’s the GOAT, but he’s not infallible…that play was a glaring example to me…our best guy was 25 yards from being involved in the play…horrible!

Football 🏈 Alabama players speak out on what comes next following loss to LSU

Alabama's Will Anderson reflects on what the Crimson Tide needs to do following its overtime loss against LSU on Saturday.

The future of CNS.

I believe tonight is a very important moment in the life of CNS. He will lie in bed tonight and think seriously about his future in coaching for the first time in his life. He will ask himself the question...."Do I, after this season, at the age of 71, have the passion and desire to to rebuild my staff.......to rebuild my team........and to continue to meet the expectations of these spoiled fans. I have no doubt he will discuss this with his wife. The man is a winner....pure and simple. However, he is human. If he decides to stay and continue, he will come back with fire in his belly. If he decides to step away, he will do so knowing that he gave his very best.....which in my opinion might not ever be matched..........for he is "THE GOAT". ROLL TIDE.

Football Recruiting The latest I am hearing on Alabama, Rivals100 DL Kavion Henderson..

With Rivals100 defensive lineman Kavion Henderson just over 48 hours away from his decision, things are heating up in a hurry in Leeds, Alabama.
Alabama has been the expected choice for quite some time, given the in-state factor, the timing of the offer, and the amount of trips he has taken to Tuscaloosa in recent weeks/months.

From what Tide Illustrated has gathered, it is actually SEC West rival Arkansas that has taken the momentum in this recruitment, and many close to Henderson expect him to commit to the Hogs on Sunday.

Out of respect for Henderson and the nature of this post, I am going to refrain (at this time) from changing my FutureCast.

Regardless of what Henderson does over the weekend, look for the Crimson Tide to remain a factor in his recruitment in the coming months, and it would surprise no one if he were to end up in the 2024 class for Alabama when all is said and done.

For now, though, it appears the No. 1 player in the state for the 2024 class (currently) is headed elsewhere.
