Transfer portal class if they can play right away,they have experience !
I am so old school it hurts. I still want some great HS players but as said above a couple of transfers might be good. I would like some role players that stay 4 years.........
Preferably a mix of high school players and upperclassmen from the portal so you can have some experience on the roster.

whatever CNO wants. Losing his complete coaching staff and handling the recruiting on both fronts is a major undertaking for 1 coach. I think he has done outstanding facing those long odds.

I'm going to say Great High school just because I don't remember Bama ever having a great transfer class, so I'm not sure what that is.
Our freshman over the years have accomplished a heck of a lot more than the transfer we've gotten.
If my great transfer class is 16+ppg from major programs ( A college All Star team) then I'm definitely going the transfer route.
Mix is the answer but that wasn't the question.

I’m not sure there is a canned right answer to this question. While I wouldn’t ever turn down, and we certainly could always use a one and done like Brandon Miller and Colin Sexton, because they were great and ready to play as soon as they set foot on campus, but I think we need to recruit more players like, from my old school 80’s days, the Steve Alford’s and Jeff Lebo’s of HS BB. Good, solid fundamental BB players, who can shoot, and are ready to contribute immediately, but not NBA prospects, so they stay for 4 years, and hopefully don’t transfer out since they are getting good playing time out of the gate. Call it today’s new Drew Timme’s. Getting the JD Davidson’s of HS BB don’t help, because they are too raw in the beginning to play championship BB, and will leave before they develop. There is practically no time to develop players anymore, which I think is sad, but it is what it is today. Just my thoughts.

I loathe the free agency theme of the transfer portal in spite of us taking some advantage of it. I wish more programs would stop using the portal as the Costco alternative to doing the leg work of recruiting and maintaining a program.
In an ideal scenario we would only ever use the portal to fill in gaps where we missed with high school recruit evaluations or for whatever reason a kid just didn't make it to campus.
So give me a top ranked high school class with a one and done or two and some multi year guys that can help maintain the programs culture. Going full on transfer classes seems like a recipe for a total disaster of a season when you can't bid high enough to get needs met and what you settle for isn't as good as what maybe got run off to make room. The opposite of having all one and done hs kids is also risky for anyone other than the bluest of blue blood programs. So find the middle and work from there.

I loathe the transfer portal too. If I didn’t follow Bama BB on this site, I would turn the tv on next BB season to watch us play and say “who are most of these guys?”
Hating the transfer portal is dumb. I think what you mean to say is you hate the one time transfer rule
