Alabama’s SEC Tournament Draw

Missouri defeats Ole Miss to clinch the #4 seed in the SEC Tournament.

So the teams that will be in Alabama’s side of the bracket (with a Florida win tonight):

South Carolina/Ole Miss/ Tennessee/ Missouri/Florida/ Miss St

That’s very favorable.
So UK on other side?

Regardless as to which side of the bracket we're on, the team has to step up their play.

Win one and rest and Im good

Not me. Winning tourneys in March is what you play basketball in Nov. , Dec. , Jan. and Feb. for. Bama has one of the deepest teams in the country. Its not rest they need. Its a re-focus. They have been thru a lot of out side pressure since the needless shooting and killing of the young woman. And understandably so. That pressure is now affecting them mentally. Also understandably so. If they can re-focus and find January magic again, they can win some tourney games. If not, they can be early exit. But I'm never glad for one win and rest. NCAA tourney is no more important than the SEC tourney to me. JMO though.

This team needs the 6 days to rest and reset, but they then need to put together some wins and get rolling. Getting back on track would be getting a big win Saturday against Tennessee, or whomever. One at a time, but at this point you don't want to lose again.

Damn right my friend, the difference in winning one game and losing the next compared to winning the tournament is only 24 hours. I think getting the confidence back and winning the tournament would be much better for the guys, but that’s just my opinion and my wife tells me I am usually wrong.

ROLL TIDE!!!!

l'm with you guys. l just can't help it. l pull to win every game and every game to me is important to win.

Speaking of winning every game. All we gotta do is not lose another game and we will be SEC Tournament Champs and National Champs. Take them one at the time starting on Friday and Roll Damn Tide.

I'm paranoid about any selection committee so I would rather err on the side of winning the SEC tournament so they can't use it as an excuse to put Houston over us. The stars had almost aligned for us then this off court mess happened. We need to show up in Nashville ready to play and not give them excuses to give us a weird seed/location.

As long as we are the overall #1 or #2 seed we will catch Birmingham for the first and second round games. I think if Kansas wins the Big 12 tournament and we win the SEC tournament and Houston wins their Mickey Mouse tournament then Kansas should and would get the overall #1 and we would get the #2 seed. I would like to think even a loss on Sunday in the championship game would keep us as the #2 seed, but time shall tell.

ROLL TIDE!!!!

On a positive note: Isn't it wonderful how we have gone from hoping to make the tourney to worrying about how high our seeding will be?

gky
The biggest reason I want a #1 seed is actually not because it is the easier path. As much as I would like that, the biggest reason I want a #1 seed is because I have never seen Bama get one. 😀

Yeah that's true, don't want to be sliding when you've been a projected one for half the year. But when it comes down to specifics, I'd rather not be paired up with Kansas or Purdue. Our team really shouldn't worry about any of that, seeding and all, just play all 40 and they'll do well.

For the most part, the higher seed by one slot means nothing. By the 2nd rd all the teams are good. You can get unlucky or lucky, at times, by getting matched up against a team that you don’t match up well against, but that still has little to do with seeding. You are right. Play well, and you should win.

On another note, life is about memories. There are enough older gentlemen on this board to know that, and the memory of being a #1 seed for the first time in Bama BB history will last a lifetime. I know this, because, unfortunately, 95% of my good memories about Bama BB are over 30 years old.

We got the easier path to the SEC Championship.
Obviously we can't overlook anyone and we will beat 10rc if we play them.
I think we have a real chance to win 2 regular season titles and 2 tournament titles in the last 3 years.

Mississippi State, Tennessee, and Texas A & M are the only 3 teams SEC teams that held us below 70 points this season. We could very easily have to play all 3 in Nashville. I'm taking no game for granted, especially with the way we have played in 6 of our last 7 games.
