Alabama basketball transfer portal hot board

So couple that article with other posts on this board and it sounds like Bradley is 50/50 right now on transferring. Can somebody explain to me why he would want to go elsewhere?

To get away from his association/ scrutiny with the harris murder is my guess

If he stays then next season during game telecasts I'm sure the networks will be more than happy to remind the viewers that Bradley was at the scene when a single mother was killed on the strip.
True but unfortunately in today's world, that will follow him no matter where he goes. Going to need to learn how to deal with it.

I think that may have something to do with it and that his offensive game hasn’t been what it needs to be to be starting PG. If it happens, it’s a mutual parting.

Ok this is what blows my mind. Why would you recruit a 17 yo high school kid if you're not going to be content with him playing like a freshmen? If this is honestly Oats minset then he'll never win big at Alabama.

What is winning big is 31 wins in 1 yr not winning big?

I am not discounting that. Very happy to win 2 SEC titles in 3 years while having a great deal of success against Auburn and Kentucky. Oats completely blew things up last year, hit on all of his signess, utilized the portal beautifully, and failed to cash in on a golden opportunity. I enjoyed this season and have longed for high seeds and SEC success for 20 years. I am not going to act like I won't celebrate similar success next season. But Cal trots out 5 of the ESPN top 25 every season, and while they all look good in their uniforms they are not a TEAM. The UK faithful claim Savion Wheeler quit on them 5 weeks ago just like phenom Sharpe quit on them last season. As I've already said I don't envy college coaches and what they have to endure. You think Burnett, Bradley, Sears, and Griffen woke up yesterday with thoughts about the portal? Or perhaps their role and playing time has been on their minds for 3-4 weeks. I don't know who is responsible for certain players leaving but an argument could be made that an underrated Jaylen Forbes and Juwan Gary would have benefited this squad during the tournament. I hate to see things continually get blown up because their isn't a doubt in my mind that this team will be better over the next 3 years with Bradley in Crimson vs whatever transfer or 5 star takes his place.

He had his minutes really reduced similar to Burnett so the writing is on the wall. Exit plans must be in place.

Also he was at the scene of the crime. The program may not want him around any more

I really hope everyone has a change of heart. I think if he can improve his outside shot, Jaden can be a really good player

You are right about a lot in your post but the bigger picture is that the transfer portal has changed everything in college sports. If there is even a slight reason to leave nothing will stop you, whether justified or not. Oates has done a pretty good job at playing the TP game so far. We will see how it goes in the future.

He's done just fine. Bradley was a great prospect coming out of HS. It would be a mutual decision if he did leave, not just Oats pushing him out because he is not good. He's a fine player and can end up being great, but with the portal there's always someone better and more experienced out there ready to take someone's spot.

I'm obviously not trying to suggest that I know better than CNO. I don't doubt that he will always try and get the best talent year after year, but at what point is your team talented enough? I'm really hoping that state of college basketball isn't such that we are hoping to get 7 new kids every year and they magically gel and make deep runs into the tournament.

Yea, I think that's about what it's come down to.
The door is open, they're not forced to stick it out and they're going to transfer if they don't play enough or they realize after their first season they just don't like playing here.

Even this San Diego St team that had 9 players play against us had 4 players that had transfered in at some point and three 5th year seniors in the group.

It’s the new college basketball where big programs don’t have time to develop kids if they don’t contribute right away. Mainly bc there’s a 3rd or 4th year transfer that can take their spot and give immediate results. Do I like that? Not necessarily because I enjoy seeing kids develop, but it a a get rich quick scheme for teams wanting to turn it around quick. Missouri is a good example of that where they brought in 70% in as transfers.

I don't really like it but it's probably the best for everyone. Basketball players want to play(don't forget even a zero star loved playing bball and was a star at his HS) and coming out they took what they thought was the best opportunity for them to do that and when it turns out it's going to take 3 or 4 years to play the minutes you did in HS and you realize you're not headed to the NBA like you've always dreamed, then leave for a better fit.

Also the majority of the senior transfers are allowed to play at a small school and develop while playing not practicing and now they get a chance to play for the bigger school that didn't want them coming out of HS.

Now coaches and teams aren't trapped in long rebuilding processes.

Teams like Alabama recruit too good to build a junior/senior oriented team from high schoolers. It's never going to happen again unless they pay to stay because this is college basketball free agency.

It’s what has created so much parity and the final four pairings that you’ll see this weekend. I think overall it’s good for the sport and everyone involved, just takes a lot of development away for incoming freshmen

We signed 4 really good freshmen last year. Miller is gone to the NBA, and so is Clowney most likely. Would love to keep the other 2 and see how they turn out as Soph. Griffen and Bradley l think will be much improved next year.

Jordan, I appreciate your posts and always enjoy reading them but I am going to have to call BS on the second half of your last sentence. There is not always someone better and more experienced out there…sorry! That is wayyy too broad of a statement to be true. There are just too many variables involved to be certain that whoever you bring in is going to be better than the player before him or her.
