WOW. What a dang game that was. Starting off with the Alabama win over Georgia in the SEC Championship and then this huge upset over the #3 Gonzaga Bulldogs basically on the road. In a game with the refs basically trying to foul out Alabama players on cheap fouls.

Jaden Shackelford had one of the best games he has ever had scoring 28 points and grabbing 9 rebounds, while hitting 6 threes. It can not be understated how good he was in the first half and carried them to a 16 point lead at the half. JD Davison had the best game of his young career tonight scoring 20 points, including a couple big time dunks and a surprising 4 threes. He really blossomed in the spotlight and this game will definitely be used in his NBA Draft tape because he showed great shooting, finishing, and strong rebounding to go with distribution. JQ also had a decent game scoring an inefficient 17 points.

The guy I want to spotlight though is Charles Bediako. He had the tall task of taking on Drew Timme and Chet Holmgren in the front court. He made it really tough for Timme to score and recorded 6 blocks inside. Alabama has been waiting for that rim protecting big and Bediako is blossoming into that role.

Look, I said I would've been fine with Alabama winning 1 of these next 3 games, but I did not envision Alabama pulling this one off. With how Memphis has looked of late and Houston being at home, I think they really can sweep the 3 games and that would be incredible. They seemed to have figured things out in the half court on offense and the defense will only get better. Roll Tide!!

JD is finally coming into his own along with Bediako. If they can keep it up going forward this team has unlimited potential.

Question for you though. What do you think is the reason Tchikou hasn’t been seeing the floor? In the dog house or easing him back in from the Achilles injury?

With a few minutes left we looked dead on our feet and were struggling just to get looks in between being called for fouls and nursing bruises from fouls that weren't called on Gonzaga. And then JD hit that 3. Then he finished the last few minutes with free throws and a steal and a dunk and a big rebound. He really finished this game for Bama. He had energy when Shack and Quin looked like they were out of gas and Ellis seems to have gotten lost a bit of late and everyone else was afraid to do much for fear of fouling out.

Phenomenal win for Bama basketball!

How many top 5 teams have we beaten on the road or at a neutral site that was effectively a home game for the other team?

I’m only at halftime now but it’s fun to see Bediako frustrate Timme.
Timme better learn to shoot the 3 or he will be a coach soon. I’ve always thought his footwork was great but I’ve went back and watched a few tonight since he’s playing my team. Dude travels big time on some of his post moves.

God if they said that once they said that 1000 times. That and how amazing the arena was. Of course it’s a road game! It’s on the complete opposite end of the country!

I would believe it if the color analyst admitted he was an investor in that great new arena the way he was repping how great that great arena is and how electric that great arena is in that great basketball area creating that great electric atmosphere for a great team that's great for basketball....

Was looking around for a radio to listen to our guys. Probably should have done that all game long.

Just watched the 2nd half. That place seemed loud. We just across the country and played a top 3 team in what was pretty much a home game. Tons of foul trouble. They kept making runs and cutting it to 4-6 and we just kept making plays when we needed them. What a win for Bama basketball. Timme and Holmgren may have drawn some fouls but our guys got after their butts and I don’t think they liked it.

we made to many dumb fouls reaching in and the refs were the worst i can remember. they got some shooters to go with their two big guys but today we were just better.

We beat a great team on the road yesterday. Something clicked in the Miami game and great to see it carry over. JD is quickly figuring this thing out and so clutch late last night. Shots starting to fall for him make him unguardable.

The way we don’t crumble under pressure anymore is the most exciting thing about our program under Oats. He has instilled a mental toughness the program has lacked for so long

AMEN! I didn't think we had a prayer against the Zags, but the team played as a team, refusing to go down, and came out with a resounding victory. Hopefully this will instill in them that they can play with anybody.

Not sure if this has been addressed but the two coaches had a lengthy discussion during the post game handshake. Then had another discussion after the teams all shook hands. I didn’t look heated but didn’t look pleasant.

Any details on what was said or what happened, if anything? Thanks

Well him playing in that internet streamed celebrity game when he was hurt really got him in the doghouse. Pair that with the injury and the fact that he is just not really good right now and he will struggle to find playing time.

I didn’t realize that our AD was a basketball player. They showed a picture of him on a team that the Gonzaga coach (Mark Few) was a coach. Maybe he will get something done about a new or remodeled arena. We are going to be on TV a lot in the near future. We play an entertaining brand of basketball and are going to win a lot of games. Oates also likes to schedule a lot of good teams which TV likes

Yesterday had to be one the greatest days I've experienced in Bama sports. Two games where all the "experts" predicted out demise against two really good teams, and we dominated both of them. In b-ball, everyone and their mother has called Chet Holmgren and "generational-unicorn type player" that is like Kevin Durant 2.0 with better passing skills. Timme seemed like he's been put at the forefront of every Wooden Award watch list. They signed two 5-star guards with Nolan Hickman and Hunter Sallis and have other 5-stars sitting around like Andrew Nembhard. No doubt there were a ton of ticky-tack fouls called.
And when it mattered, we calmly hit back to back threes and put the game out of reach.
Agree with all the good stuff on this thread:
Bediako is a huge difference maker. Rim protection and rim running on the other end. What a get he was.
Shack flirted with the dang transfer portal but is our alpha dog in terms of shooting confidence and the man was dealing last night.
JD Davison finding his 3-ball, if that continues that guy is unfortunately 1-and-done but can take us further in the Big Dance than we've ever been.
Quinerly drove to the basket once and switched the ball to his left hand to avoid the block - a thing of beauty and that guy is awesome.
J Gary and so many others to praise - but Coach Oats has this team playing at the highest level pre-season. If we beat Memphis and Houston - seems like we would be a 1-seed if they made the brackets today. Long long way to go, but looks like we have a special group. Roll Tide Roll

I said it last night during the game thread....Shack has moved his game to the next level! One of the great wins in Bama basketball history last night!

Props to Shack because he played probably his best game as a Bama player on a big stage…and Bama doesn’t win if JD Davison doesn’t find his 3pt shot.

Q is a wizard with the ball and impacts the game with it even though he still hasn’t fully gotten back on track with his outside shot, which Bama still needs him to do.

If Bama can get more than 1–2 guys efficiently making outside shots in a game then it could get ugly for other teams because clearly Bama can play pretty well even when only getting a couple going.

RTR that was fun!

***Side note - Gonzaga messing the bed at the FT line was huge.

I’m guessing it was just more if we never see each other, probably haven’t much ever, Bama was a long way from home so they were just using the moment to talk.

I believe I recall that certain people on the board claimed that we didn’t need Shack, that we were better off without him, etc when he was in the portal.

I went to the Bama game in Atlanta and listened to the basketball game driving back to Birmingham. I still can’t believe we won both. So much fun to have this basketball team right now. That may be the biggest win we have ever have. It’s the biggest win that I have been alive for.

Saw an article talking about this and they said it was this

Getting back to the ‘best-ever’ Alabama Basketball regular-season upset requires a deep dive into Tide roundball records. It was Jan. 28, 1983, when an unranked Crimson Tide team traveled to Los Angeles to play No. 1 ranked, UCLA in Pauley Pavilion. The Crimson Tide won 70-67, led by Bobby Lee Hurt’s 23 points. That Wimp Sanderson team was loaded with Hurt, Ennis Whatley, Mike Davis, Terry Willaims and Buck Johnson. As good as the ’83 team was, it lost 10 SEC games that season.

Great ,great win. It is wonderful to have a team that is fun to watch/follow and is also a winner. My Dad and I started going to games on regular basis in 1972 and followed them through CM's days and afterward Wimp into the 80's . Great memories and there is excitement and hope again. Thanks Coach Oats ,Greg Byrne and this team.

Perhaps Bama’s top win on the hardcourt since beating 1 seed Stanford in 2004. Stellar effort all the way around.
I think this means more. That was a great win, but we had to have a massive comeback to win. We dominated this team from almost start to finish on the road. Really amazing.

I bet listening to it was awesome. Something about listening to Bama basketball is as good as watching it even though I barely ever do it.

Nah man that was an NCAA tournament second round game. Beating that Stanford team and following up with beating CUse in the sweet 16… unmatched

I heard Wimp on the radio talking about this game, he said no one even remembers the game because Coach Bryant had died the day before,
