- You knew it wouldn’t be easy. Winning 9 straight coming in winning 9 straight and facing a desperate, yet supremely talented Kentucky team with their season on the line. First sweep of Kentucky since 1988-1989. Kentucky matches up better than any team in the league with Alabama because of their length and athleticism. They did a good job of making Alabama take forced and tough shots which prevented Alabama from extending the lead.

-Herbert Jones is an absolute warrior. Herb jd a bad back that he he to get massaged on the sidelines during timeouts but still finished with 13 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals. He’s probably my favorite basketball player I’ve watched play in quite sometime. He’s a warrior and absolutely loves playing basketball. If he can walk, he will play.

-Who says Alabama can’t win a slugfest? Alabama only made 6 threes, but shot 24/28 from the FT line. They nearly doubled UK with points in the paint at 28-16. That is not what you expect to happen without Bruner especially. This Alabama team is so versatile and can beat you in many ways.

-What about that defense? Forced 16 turnovers and held Kentucky to 5 points the final 5 minutes of the game. That led to Alabama pulling away with a couple crucial buckets and finished it off with free throws.

- Free throw shooting. I touched on it earlier but it has been fantastic. They’ll have an off game every now and again, but they’re typically making around 80% a night. Shack Went 10/10 and Herb 9/10. They made more FT combined than Kentucky took total. Incredible effort at the charity stripe.

-This team is for real. If you don’t think so yet, then you were surely proven wrong tonight. They’ve won two close games in a row at home and showed they have the toughness to withstand a teams best punch. They’re the hunted now, but they’re still hunting as well. 9-0 in SEC play and 14-3 overall.

Great gut check win!

On the whole this team looks tired and beat up. Don't know if they need a few days off but between walking wounded and guys playing half a step slow this looks like a very different team than the one that was flying up and down the court a couple weeks ago. We could have built a few arenas with the bricks we put up tonight and IMO some of that was being a bit dead legged and/or hurt.

“And what do they win Chuck...an upcoming date with a top 25 Oklahoma team coming off a win against 5th ranked Texas on the road”....gotta love college basketball :)

Kentucky did a lot of things well on defense tonight but these guys looked sluggish. Hopefully they can get healed up and get their legs back under them by Saturday. I thought the minutes that the backups gave from 12:00 to 8:00 we're huge in that they didn't let UK extend their lead. Shack finally took over so kudos to Oats for getting the ball into his hands and winning the game.

Great summary. This is the way top ten teams should finish games. A loss would be understandable, but losing games like this take you off top shelf status real quick. We've gotten to a level where the guys are understanding what it takes to win and the desire to win every time out. Good to know we have a team that doesn't quit. We need to get our offensive prowess back, but I'd guess uk was about as good as it gets defensively. They usually are, and expected their best on that end after our first matchup. Roll tide.

Gave up 5 points in the final five minutes, that's what won. I mentioned us locking them down for a stretch late, but I thought it was more like a 2-3 minute stretch. That's a good path to victory, especially in a game like that.

I love you highlighting Shack making 10-10 free throws. Remember when he missed 5 in a row and we still won. Instead of celebrating, he went back to the gym and shot free throws. That is why this team can keep winning. If one guy is off, the next one steps up.

Love beating UK twice no matter how ugly that game was. I didn't really understand our offensive gameplan most of the time. We had small guys driving with their heads down into the trees and taking bad shots, committing turnovers, not doing our normal kickouts to open three point shooters. Until the last few minutes, it felt like UK had the momentum and would walk out with a huge win, but they just don't have a dominant guard or any kind of scorer like they usually do. We would have lost otherwise. But you know - I couldn't have been more impressed at "winning time". Winning the game with lockdown D and free throws was different but great to see Herb and Shack step up to the line and knock out the Cats. Not having Bruner was a big deal having to put Gary out there who was at least half a foot shorter than his man, but more than held his own. Probably would have been nice to have that 6'11'' Alex Frenchy guy playing if he would have been healthy, but kudos to Gary for stepping up and giving us enough.

Rest up, get healthy, move on, and let's go shellack the Sooners.

Could not be more proud of Bama hoops. In my late 40s so I've seen some real good years and too many mediocre and bad years. This team is special because they could be 9-8 right now and I would not be surprised after watching the first 5 games. Herb will go down as one of my top 5 all time favorites because of his heart and ability to go from an absolute "please don't shoot the ball" guy, to our best 3 point shooter. This team played a highly talented UK team who made us play their game and we still won. Free throw shooting and tough D, who would have thought two years ago that's how we'd beat Kentucky for the second time in the same year. Oklahoma should be a good test, can't wait to see this group in action again soon. Never know who's gonna lead the team from night to night, that's what makes it fun.

This team continues to amaze me, and I'll admit I had all but given up on them after the disappointing non-conference performance. Since then we've seen them dominate with offense (UF, UK, LSU) and then in the last 2 games against MSU and UK we've seen them win with defense when the offense wasn't up to par.

One thing we did learn last night, as Harper's pointed out, is UK matches up with us better than anyone in conference. Moving into the tournament team's with size will likely pose the biggest threat for us, but I can't wait to see this team play come March.

Like others have said: Last night was a game we would have lost in years past. Great
to find a way to win. I thought we looked tired and a step slow, but thats expected.
I also thought we felt the pressure a little of being undefeated which is also expected.
We got nothing out of Reese and Quinerly but still found a way to win

I'm and Alabama Basketball fan. I keep waiting for the balloon to pop. The only thing I know for sure is that we will go no worse in the conference regular season than 9-9. Now I expect to go no worse than 15-3, but I am use to total collapses.

Auburn, Missouri, LSU and Miss.State are the most likely places for trouble winning. If we win at Missouri, I like our chances to win the SEC this year.

Well done! Although the team resembles the "walking-wounded," they managed two back-to-back gritty wins.
