Both of these teams played their best game they’ve played in quite sometime tonight. Rutgers is not a good offensive team but shot the lights out. I am really glad we don’t have to face Ron Harper Jr on Friday. He would be infuriating. Omoruyi would be a matchup nightmare and McConnell played the game of his life.

Notre Dame doesn’t play a lick of defense to give up that much to a poor offensive team like Rutgers. They play a fun style of offense similar to Alabama, but aren’t necessarily skilled. They try to drive, drive drive and get to the rim or kick to the 3. Sound familiar? This will be a fun game where whoever play the best defense will win. I think Alabama’s defense has played really well as of late so they will be tested Friday!

Best case scenario for Bama. This is the better matchup for us and they just had to play a double OT game. It was a fun game to watch.

The Irish played with good fundamentals, which reminds me of Davidson. Lets see if Oats can get em motivated and play hard for 40 minutes. Protect the ball, play solid defense, rebound, make your FTs, and QUIT MISSING LAYUPS/PUT-BACKS!

We have given up 80 or more points in our last 3 games. Your definition of a defense that "has played really well as of late" is obviously different than mine. Still glad we're playing Notre Dame. They're a better matchup for us than Rutgers IMO.

What are your thoughts on having a double OT game and then flying across the country to play in less than 48 hours against an uptempo team?

We have played with much better energy defensively. 15+ live ball turnovers is kind of the equivalent of giving up pick 6s in football and then saying your defense have up too many points

It’s beyond unfathomable to me how a few posters can hate oats this much. I get being negative about the state of our program in general over the last three decades… but this would not be that time.
I don’t hate Oats. Go back and look. I was literally the FIRST person to say lock Oats up. I was way ahead of anyone saying that.
I’m not being negative about the state of our program and most aren’t. But we are realistic to know that shooting 35 threes isn’t a great answer for a team that doesn’t shoot it great. Just like pressuring the ball at half court isn’t the best answer for a team that can’t guard the dribble/

When you consider how many fast break points we’ve given up off live ball turnovers, it has been really good. PPG is very misleading, just like in football.

Oats has definitely struggled this year getting this team to play hard and control attitudes. That’s less on him and more on the players individually. Just hasn’t been a good mesh for much of year
