I attended the softball team banquet on saturday night and our girls "clean up EXTREMELY well!!" Additionally, they are extremely gracious and appreciative, unfortunately a trait far too many do not possess now days.
-Dani Richards was hit in the mouth by a fast ball against api. It bent her lower four front teeth completely back. She did not shed a tear and wanted to stay in the game. Coach Murphy told her he would let someone else play. Wonder how many of us are that tough?
-In H.S., an unnamed Bama player had had it with a particularly obnoxious sophomore. She picked the girl up and hung her by her belt on a locker room clothes hook and left her hanging there until practice was over.
-Three of the girls play with broken fingers. They take the splint off to practice and play, then replace it afterwards.
-Quite a few parents of the girls are divorced. One father did not even come to his daughter's special senior day.
-These girls get up at an ungodly hour for conditioning, go to class, have practices, do homework, etc.
-so next time a girl pops up with two out in the bases loaded or throws a double play ball away, we would do well to remember that she did not do it on purpose and that she might have some serious issues in her life, might have a paper and two tests due tomorrow, etc.
Hopefully, if you do not like softball, you will simply not read and not resort to some classless remark that some seem unable to avoid.
