These players came to Bama because Saban was here. They came on Sabans vision and process to the NFL. All of these players had other schools in mind when committing to Bama. Now here’s the kick in the nuts you may wanna brace for…… maybe 5% of the players on our roster came to Bama because they were Bammers.. and 1% of that 5% actually see the field. Jalen Milroe is that 1%… the rest have to make a decision just like they are a senior in HS again. Now they ask themselves “Do I go play for Kirby, Sark, somewhere I’ll get more $$ or exposure ,,or Coach Debo”? Saban is not telling anyone to stay at Bama. He’s asking them to hear Coach Debo out, and make a decision for themselves. Saban is not gonna lie to them and say everything will be the same or all will be fine, because he doesn’t know. The UofA offers nothing more than UGA, Texas, or anyone else for that matter.
The last thing we need is players sticking around and comparing the last 2-3 yrs to this upcoming year. It could cause a ship to sink from within. The best path forward is a fresh start across the board. All new players and all new coaches with all new schemes. Let all the upper class men go, keep the rookie recruits and let Coach Debo build his own house. CNS is gone and will never be forgotten. But he doesn’t need to be reminded daily that “Nick didn’t do it that way” or we will have Dabo Swinney in 3 years.
