Bediako

From Kelly's article on the game...

"Charles came out, impacted the game. We were plus-33 when Charles was in the game. 13 rebounds, 12 points, five blocks," Oats said. "He affected a lot of shots where he didn't get blocks. Really happy with that."

+33

He's our only consistent big man in defending the rim. I've thought all season he was the one player would have the hardest time replacing. If we lose Miller it would hurt but we have other guys that are capable of shooting and getting downhill toward the goal. We don't really have a good backup for Bediako and we have to change into something that's more of a small 3 guard, small forward, forward look.

Really dominant bigs out there can push him around a bit but you're talking all of like 5 or 6 centers in the college game that can do that.

Angry Chuck is my man. Excellent inside defender and rebounder. He may not can shoot a lick and a terrible free throw shooter, but he has soft hands and can catch the ball in traffic and put it in the hole on the inside. He has a knack of getting open at the rim.

I’m not taking anything away from him. But knack for getting open at the rim is a little much. He pretty much stands in the dunker spot and waits for his guy to help.

Wrong, his roll of the pick has gotten way better. He's learning better to not take his defender to the goal to early, so when the defender comes of of bediako to help at the rim, bediako fills in behind for the dish. So no, he doesn't just stand around at the rim.

Very good post and very true. He has very good hands and can catch the ball in traffic as well. Kid has always been a great defensive player and even though he has no outside shot at all his offensive game has greatly improved.

I’d like to see the numbers on Bediakos baskets. I bet not even 10% of them have come off of a roll. He scores off of off rebounds and mainly a guard getting him wide open. It’s not a negative. It’s just how he scores.

I sat beside his mom on Friday and she said she’d only made it down for 3 games this year I believe. I told her if he was going to play like that when she came to the games that she needed to just move down here. Talked to her after the championship and she said she was definitely staying for a while I told her the whole fan base would appreciate that. Lol.

I take full credit for Bediako's comeupence. He read my post critizing his play earlier and he decided to prove me wrong. Now he is becoming a force on both ends of the court.
You're welcome!

Never understood the hate on a guy that’s a top 10 true big in the country. He’s not flashy but he’s dang good at what he does
Couldn’t agree with you more Harp. This guy brings it every time out. He gets better every game!! He’s the most underrated player on the roster!!! Just wait until next season.

Totally agree. l am Angry Chuck's biggest fan. He is a true center. He cannot shoot a lick, but he is very good offensively around the rim. Plays great defense and is a great rebounder on the offensive and defensive boards.

Angry Chuck has been a big part of our success this year and Pringle has become a very good back up center.
