10 in a row
This was Tennessee's year to finally get over the Alabama hump right? Some believed Tennessee was the best team in the SEC at the beginning of the season. Some the best team in the country. The Vols suffered seven turnovers on the road against a top 10 team last weekend against Texas A&M. Surely if they don't commit as many turnovers they will have a good chance to defeat Alabama at Neyland Stadium.
Alabama-Tennessee is certainly a great rivalry. Nick Saban made sure to speak about the rivalry prior to the game. You didn't see Nick Saban holding up both of his hands with 10 fingers in the air on Saturday night. He has a lot more class than that. There are certainly some coaches out there who would boast about winning streaks over rival programs. Alabama won 49-10 in Knoxville. Time to move on to Texas A&M.
This Alabama defense is something special to watch especially when they are clicking on all cylinders. We all know how great the pass rush has been the last two seasons. It's been incredible this year. Tennessee had 684 yards of offense against Texas A&M. The Vols had 402 yards passing and 282 yards rushing in College Station.
The total yards dropped by 521. The passing yards by 271 and the rushing yards by 250. Just total domination on both sides of the ball on the road in a hostile environment against a team who had all high expectations since the end of last season. There was no luck. No coming back. No chance against the Tide.
Tennessee is littered with injuries especially on the offensive line. They were simply overwhelmed on Saturday. I've seen people say- 'well Tennessee can still win the East and possibly beat Alabama in the SEC Championship game if they get healthy?' They need to get healthy in order to do that and bring back Peyton Manning.
Jalen Hurts has become a Heisman candidate. He is in the top five. It's a little hard to believe since he did not open the season as the starter. He has been incredible running the ball, and added three rushing touchdowns on Saturday. His confidence continues to grow. He doesn't get rattled. He needs to continue to improve in the passing game, but his game breaking ability has been incredible to see.
Good for Bo. Alabama has running backs. Keep feeding them.
Derek Barnett got the better of Cam Robinson on Saturday. Doesn't get any easier this weekend against Myles Garrett. Bama should be able to run on A&M.
I'll talk more about the Bama/A&M game later this week.
UGA win may not be enough for Mason
Did anyone expect the Commodores to pull off an upset at Georgia on Saturday? It's not as far fetched as other upsets. Vandy gave Florida all it could handle a few weeks ago. Georgia is not making it to Atlanta this year. They remain in a rebuilding mode. Though you should probably hand the ball to Nick Chubb on fourth and short.
Vandy has a tough slate ahead. They are going to beat Tennessee State. I think. TSU is 5-1. However, they still have games at Auburn, at Missouri, Ole Miss and Tennessee. A win against Tennessee could save Mason. What does Vandy expect from its head coach any way? They are competitive. It's probably a while before they are playing for SEC Championships. So why not keep a coach who has beaten UGA, and almost upset Florida?
Nebraska is 6-0 with Mike Reilly
I'm not buying the Huskers just yet. The win at 3-3 Indiana is the Cornhuskers most impressive win so far. They will get to 7-0 this weekend with a home game against Purdue. We'll see how good they really are in the next two weeks with road games at Wisconsin and Ohio State.
The Irish are 2-5
Brian Kelly should get the ax. A lot of people have discussed his buyout. If Notre Dame wants him gone they will shell out the money to get rid of him. They played for a national championship in 2013, have done great in recruiting and are progressively worse. Kelly blamed his center for the loss two weeks ago against N.C. State. The blame for being 2-5 is on Kelly.
Leach does it again
I think I called this game last week. Though it wasn't a major upset or big surprise. Crazy to think Washington State.....Washington State has defeated Oregon, Stanford and now UCLA in a row. They lost to Eastern Washington in the first game of the season.

NFL Power Rankings
1. New England Patriots
-This offense is unstoppable. How about Dont'a Hightower yesterday? 13 tackles, a sack and safety. Not bad.
2. Minnesota Vikings
-Vikings had a bye week. Still the best defense in the league.
3. Dallas Cowboys
-Ok, I'm not a believer in this team after a dominating win at Green Bay. Dak and Zeke are special players in the NFL for a long time.
4. Seattle Seahawks
-Sure they had a pass interference to end the game against Julio. They still won. So they get the nod over ATL.
5. Atlanta Falcons
-This is a different team. The halftime adjustments on offense were fantastic. The offense could not be stopped led by Julio and Matt Ryan. They are going to be just fine.
6. Buffalo Bills
-How good have the Bills been since Rex Ryan fired the OC after game 2?
7. Green Bay Packers
-Disappointing loss at home to the Cowboys. Still a good team.
8. Washington Redskins
-How bad is the rest of the NFL?
9. Kansas City Chiefs
-Chiefs looked a lot better after a bye week against the Raiders.
10. Denver Broncos
-Not going to completely give up on the Broncos just yet.
Enough about football. tell us about recruiting
A big weekend coming up for the Crimson Tide on the recruiting front with Texas A&M coming to town. Alabama should have a boatload of top tier targets in town for the game. The guest list should be a who's who among the Rivals100 in 2017 and 2018. Confirmed visitors already include: Baron Browning, Cam Akers, Nico Collins, LaBryan Ray, Trey Smith, Major Tennison just to name a few...
James Robinson, Rivals100 wide receiver from Lakeland High School in Florida, scheduled an official visit to Alabama for January 20. Robinson is certainly a wide receiver target for the Crimson Tide. Plan to add at least two more to the current group.
Alabama feels great about where it sits with DeVonta Smith, Rivals100 wide receiver from Amite High School in Louisiana. It's only a matter of time before he joins the class. Henry Ruggs, four-star wide receiver from Lee High School in Montgomery, also remains a top priority. The uncertainty of what he is going to do has opened the doors for others.
Alabama is in communication with the receivers listed below. They are hoping to add two from the group. They obviously have their favorites. Not all can commit if they were to choose to do so right now, but these are the ones who Alabama is recruiting at the moment in addition to Smith, Ruggs, Collins and Robinson.
Tarik Black, Rivals100 from Cheshire Academy in Connecticut.
Jeff Thomas, Rivals100 from East St. Louis High School in Illinois
Jaylen Harris, four-star from Cleveland Heights High School in Ohio
Omar Manning, four-star from Lancaster High School in Texas
Stephen Guidry, four-star from Hinds C.C. in Raymond, Mississippi
Joseph Lewis, five-star from Augustus Hawkins High School in Los Angeles
Isaiah Buggs, five-star defensive tackle from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in Perkinston, revealed a new top seven on Sunday. His favorites are Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Ole Miss and Texas A&M. Expect Buggs to visit Alabama on Saturday.

-My third grade football team got back on the victory train Saturday with a convincing 22-6 win. We have one more regular season game until we hit the playoffs. The boys are looking good right now. I certainly think we are going to make a run all the way to the Super Bowl!
-We are in full football mode right now, but there are some playoffs still going on. The Dodgers tied things up against the Cubs last night behind excellent pitching for Clayton Kershaw. The Indians and Blue Jays play tonight in Toronto. Indians (2-0) have yet to lose this postseason.
-I'm hitting the Phish shows in Nashville on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. The boys hit the road with two nights in Charleston before a Sunday night show in Jacksonville (Never Miss a Sunday Show). Front man Trey Anastasio was happy to play in Jacksonville for the first time in Phish's history. Said Jacksonville is home to one of the greatest bands of all-time. Then proceed to cover The Ballad of Curtis Loew by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Yes, it was awesome.
