Alabama
Bama defense dominates

This Alabama defense Is so much fun to watch this year. Jonathan Allen's sack in the first quarter will stay on a lot of minds for a while. It certainly is one of the best, if not the best sack in college football this season.

The entire defense is just suffocating. They are playing at such a high level right now. It seemed most were waiting on this three game stretch (Arkansas, Tennessee, A&M) to see where the Crimson Tide would stumble. No stumbles. Just impressive wins.

Alabama still has some things to clean up on offense. The bye week comes at a great time before the trip to LSU. Jalen Hurts was electric on the ground against the Aggies. That touchdown run was sensational.

Eddie Jackson's season ending leg injury is devastating from his play on the field and leadership role, but as always it's next man up for the Crimson Tide.

Penn State with the upset against the Buckeyes

Are you kidding me? The Nittany Lions were beat by 39 points to Michigan. I certainly did not expect this just like most of the nation. A few weeks ago, Ohio State was considered the team who could match up and defeat Bama. Of course the Bama train is on a different path right now. Ohio State can still get to the college football playoff. If they win out, they are going to be in.

Auburn whips Arkansas

It's been a while since we have seen a completely dominating performance from Auburn on both sides of the ball. They whipped Arkansas all night long. I wasn't sure why the line was so high for the game, but now I realize it should have been much higher. Auburn seems to have turned a corner and if they continue to play the way they shouldn't lose another game until the trip to Tuscaloosa. That defensive front is impressive. I've mentioned in the pad most were heavily recruited and wanted by Alabama. Can clearly remember most Bama fans saying Marlon Davidson was overrated (likely because he signed with Auburn). Well I ranked him, and don't believe that's true. He's been very impressive this season.

Coach 0 is 3-0

Let's be honest. LSU had three capable games of winning since Coach Orgeron took the reigns when Les Miles was fired. Missouri has no business beating LSU. They weren't going to lose to Southern Miss. Ole Miss is in a downward spiral. LSU currently sits at 5-2 with losses to Wisconsin and Auburn. Those loses don't look so bad now, but yet cost Les Miles his job.

Alabama has a bye this week before the showdown with LSU. Coach O would probably be named head coach, mayor and governor of Louisiana if he beats Alabama in Baton Rouge. Tough road game in a rowdy environment. CBS will have the game at 7:00 p.m. next Saturday.

No defense

Both schools should be embarrassed with the way its defenses played. Baker Mayfield passed for 545 yards and seven touchdowns. Joe Mixon 263 yards rushing and two touchdowns for the Sooners. Unreal numbers until you see Patrick Mahomes stat line. Mahomes completed 52-of-88 for 734 yards and five touchdowns. Big 12 defenses...

Houston, we have a problem!

Ok so the Cougars win against Oklahoma in Week 1 does not look as impressive as it did. Tom Herman may be on the way out (to a bigger program). It may be getting in the players' heads. Maybe his head. I don't know, but they are not making it to a New Year's six bowl after a humiliating 38-16 loss to SMU. Chad Morris could be getting some calls now.

NFL Power Rankings

1. New England Patriots
-They are too good right now.
2. Dallas Cowboys
-Best OL in football doing a great job for Dak and Zek. Interesting to see what happens when Romo comes back.
3. Minnesota Vikings
-Tough loss on the road to the Eagles, but on a neutral field it's hard to pick against them.
4. Seattle Seahawks
- Boring game right? Remember that Bama-LSU game at Bryant-Denny in 2011? Seahawks are still very good.
5. Kansas City Chiefs
-Defense has been great since the bye week.
6. Philadelphia Eagles
-Great win on Sunday against the Vikings.
7. Atlanta Falcons
-Don't do this to us again ATL. Julio still a monster though.
8. Oakland Raiders
-Raiders are really 5-2. A win on the road even when Amari doesn't have a big day.
9. Green Bay Packers
-They were supposed to win the Super Bowl this year, right?
10. Buffalo Bills
-Still have faith in the Bills despite the loss on the road to the Dolphins

Let the World Series Begin!

Cubs and Indians fans throughout the world rejoiced when their teams clinched spots in the World Series. I swear I've been around more Cubs fans in the last month than I ever knew existed in Birmingham until now. I've never been a Cubs fan, but have enjoyed watching their games with a bunch of friends who are including the ones who may have shed a few tears when they won the other night. Game 1 Tuesday night in Cleveland. Indians have yet to lose at home this postseason. I'm going with the Cubs in 7.

Cowboys Update

My third grade football team finished the regular season with 5-3 record after a great win on Sunday afternoon. We are the No.3 seed in the playoffs. We did win our only game against the No.2 seed (Bills). We beat the Jets on Sunday on a fourth and short stop from our defense. Jets coaches told one of our friends they would beat us because they beat us by three touchdowns earlier in the year. Well, they beat us by 7 earlier in the year because two of our best players got hurt in the first quarter. So great beating them on Sunday. Playoffs begin Tuesday night as we take on the Raiders who we have beaten twice this season. Can't look past the game though.

Recruiting insider Report will drop on Tuesday.
