-Here we are. Alabama is 9-0 in conference and 14-3 overall after their gritty win over Kentucky on Tuesday. Here is where things stand currently:
-Alabama is still #9 in KenPom with the 15th ranked adjusted offense and 8th ranked adjusted defense. Astronomical improvement on defense from last season and that is why they’ve had significantly better and sustained results.
-Alabama ranks 10th in overall NET with the 11th ranked Strength of schedule. Alabama is 9-2 overall in Quad 1&2 games, with a 5-1 record in Quad 1 games. The next 3 games are against teams that rank in the top 35 in NET, so some more opportunities for Q1&Q2 wins.
-As of yesterday, Joe Lunardi had Alabama has the top overall #2 seed and said with a win on Saturday they would vault to a #1 seed. Gonzaga and Baylor are locked in as #1 seeds, but those other 2 are obtainable for Alabama if they stay the course.
-Alabama holds a 3 game lead in the SEC, a 4 game lead if you count tiebreakers. If they can lose less than 5 conference games, then I believe they will win the SEC. After next week (Missouri and LSU), they face the bottom 4 teams in the SEC the two weeks following. If they win those 4 games, then you can pretty much put the conference on ice. What a season this has been.
