The last time the SEC championship game was a rematch from the regular season? Has it ever happened? I'm asking because, if the preseason East and West favorites actually win their respective divisions (Georgia and Alabama), the SECCG will be a rematch of a game played during the regular season. Or, if Auburn wins the West (heaven forbid), and plays UGA, it will also be a rematch. Same story if Tennessee wins the East and we win the West, regular season rematch. Obviously, we've got a long way to go before any of this actually happens, but, it seems likely that this year's SECCG could feature two teams that played each other in the regular season. Can anyone remember if that has ever happened before? I can't think of one off the top of my head. TIA.
