Bama basketball fans will miss Cecil more than they may know. He was unique in a football focused area with more FoG than not and he genuinely appreciated Bama basketball. He stood out in the chorus of football writers but he was almost alone as the basketball writer that could do more than just recant a game and regurgitate a press conference. It was that way even when Wimp was still sidecourt but was especially true during the walk in the desert Bama basketball has endured for 20+ years.
It's nearing Greek tragedy that he's taken from us just as Bama basketball may be on the cusp of it's best run ever. He would have loved that ride as much or more than what we've seen with Saban.
