davison and ellis

expected to go in the draft. how in the hell is that possible?
It is called the Watered Down NBA. If I were the coach Davidson would not be in the rotation right now along with the Walk-on's. He is not very good other than getting an occasional Rebound. Not sure he would have made the traveling team at the Barn.

Did I need see the same thread popping up about Primo last year and Kira the year before that? I will say this again and hopefully some here will listen, the NBA is a completely different game than CBB. Bulls took a player a couple years ago who didn't start one single game in college, Williams started day on of the NBA season.

Every time I see this hot take I assume it coming from someone who doesn't watch the NBA. I'm in my 40s, grew up watching in the 80s and 90s, and will tell you the players today re overall better skilled than the players back then.

I also, think JD is having a much better year if he had gone to Auburn mostly because Pearl is infinitely better at putting players in a position to be successful on the court. he's not married to a system and try to force a square peg into a round whole like we see in T-Town.

You are right about the NBA and my overall watching habits. Yes the NBA does have tons of highly skilled athletics but the way the game is played today is just not appealing to me plus all the DIva's that simply do not square well with my views. I was out in Phoenix not long ago and attended a Phoenix Suns game and was totally bored to death and the the only Entertaining thing about the game was the Cheerleaders of which can move and shake it like I like it and The Gorilla. The Gorilla I think is more athletic than the players themselves and the timeouts were the most entertaining thing about the game.
We need the Gorilla at the Bama Basketball games no matter the cost. RTR
I just do not see how in the world Davidson could be rated a 5 star player and I am not sure at the talent Pearl has amassed for this years Barn team, if Davidson would have made the team.
Oats better start thinking about winning the Paint and defending the rim where games are really won or lost.
As of right now Oats simply does not have the Mules that want to win the Paint Battles.

No, he sucked at 3 pointers and basically was an athlete that had big dunks. He came off the bench and averaged under 10 points again.
So you’re saying he averaged under 10 a game but wasn’t better than JD?

He was a cancer and didn’t want to be there. To my knowledge, JD has been a hard worker and is trying to get better. Wallace doesn’t claim Alabama and only went to make his mom happy. He may have changed his opinion over the years, but he made that comment.

Here are his stats. I remember going to one game where he had 30 something points and thought he was going to be a big time player. It was against a terrible team, and he rarely showed up after that to my memory. JD has played well in most of our big wins. So, I would say he has played better.

Everything here is correct except the last paragraph… Davison would be no more productive at AU. Pearl coached a team with a losing record last year with a far worse strength of schedule than Bama this year.

Davison hasn’t gotten up to speed fully of the college game. He has shown flashes in quick tempo games because that’s what he likes to play, but grind it out games he’s struggled with decision making. Which is common among freshmen guards

Davison’s best attribute so far is that he has had some of his best games against good teams. When he is making shots he changes the Bama team pretty dramatically.

Re: Gerald Wallace…I made that comparison to JD earlier…it is a tough direct comparison because of era and position, but there is no doubt JD needs to see a similar or better skill improvement just to be viable in the NBA. Gerald was both bigger and a more dynamic athlete than JD (the guy was one of the best, if not the best, run/jump athletes in the entire NBA for a while), so he had more utility just based on those attributes alone, and his potential ceiling was always going to be higher…which he did at least minimally achieve as a one time all star and all defensive team player in 2010 while playing for like 15 years.

As a PG in the “pace and space” era NBA, IMO JD will be hard pressed to hang unless he develops a reliable outside game…but he has shown flashes and his form doesn’t seem broken so I think improvement is reasonable to expect…not sure if it will be at Bama or in the G-league next year though.
