The spread, RPO and such now have a lot more answers. Defenses are just giving up yards and playing good in the red zone. Some teams are starting to evolve back to more of a running game and even closer to triple option from the gun. We literally got beat by two teams we were better than bc we had no answer for that. I think we will see more teams starting to lean that way on offense. A defense can give up yards to a good passing team and the shorter field helps them. It doesn’t help you against a running team quite as much.
And with the new clock rules, if you can run it and possess it, you can shorten the game so much. So you can limit the high powered offenses possessions and lesser teams can stay in games much longer than they could have in the past.
