Not a fan of "Sports Reporters" in general.
“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles…"
And not a fan of Dennis Dodd in particular, but even a blind squirrel (you know the rest),
"The postseason has just become harder for the SEC; a separate tournament to be won after the toughest regular-season slog in the sport."
There is simply no way around the fact that the playoffs now and forever will reward the team in the weakest conference. There is a gap between the SEC and the Pac 12, ACC, Big 12 (ranked in that order I think) but its not as great as made out, but the Big 10 lags behind all other power 5 conferences by a lot IMO.
Here are the records from last year:
Indiana 4/8; Purdue 3/9; Michigan 5/7; Northwestern 5/7; Illinois 6/7; Maryland 7/6; Iowa 7/6; Penn State 7/6; Rutgers 8/5; Minnesota 8/5; Nebraska 9/4; Michigan State 11/2 Wisconsin 11/3; Ohio State 14/1 (lost at home to unranked Va Tech).
But that's not all. Not only do they play their weak sisters, but the records above include non-conference games against:
Indiana [Indiana State, Bowling Green (L), North Texas]
Maryland [James Madison]
Michigan [Appalachian State]
Michigan State [Jacksonville State, Eastern Michigan, Wyoming]
Penn State [Central Florida, Akron, Massachusetts, Temple]
Rutgers [Howard, Navy, Tulane]
Illinois [Youngstown State, Western Kentucky, Texas State, Louisianan Tech (L)]
Iowa [Northern Iowa, Ball State]
Ohio State [Navy, Kent State]
Minnesota [Eastern Illinois, Middle Tennessee State, San Jose State]
Nebraska [Florida Atlantic, McNeese State, Fresno State]
Northwestern [Northern Illinois, Western Illinois]
Purdue [Western Michigan, Central Michigan (L), Southern Illinois]
Wisconsin [Western Illinois, Bowling Green]
Ohio State beat Alabama because they were the better team that day, but it also helped that they get a number of scrimmages against teams who wouldn't post a win http://www.cbssports.com/collegefoo...ional-championship-drought-continue-into-2015if they didn't pad their schedules with cupcakes.
