Doug Shows showed last night why he should not be a referee.

The Alabama Auburn game last night was as physical a game as I have seen in the last two years, yet there were fewer fouls called on Auburn and Alabama than were called in the Arkansas-Alabama game on Alabama. What happened between last week and this week, other than the Shows crew was split between the Ole Miss-Kentucky game and the Alabama-Auburn game. Did Coach Oats scratch two officials?

Last night Doug Shows again called an Alabama Basketball game. The crew calling the game was Doug Shows, K.B. Burdett, Wil Howard. The crew that called the Arkansas game was Doug Shows, Lee Cassell, Steve Anderson. In the Arkansas game the officials called 50 fouls and in the game last night the officials called 31 fouls. I would submit to you that the game was a lot more physical last night than the game at Arkansas. My problem is that the games were not called consistently. By the way the other two officials worked the Ole Miss Kentucky game last night and only called 34 fouls.

I would submit to you that what was a foul last night and what was not a foul should have been the same, regardless of the night the game was called. The disparity in the two game films will show the reason that Doug Shows should be put out to pasture and should be confined to calling rec league games and not major college basketball.

This is a big problem in basketball. I wish they could figure out a way to have instant replay help these officials. From the flopping to charges, there is never enough consistency.

If we play Kentucky in the tournament and Shows officiates the game he will relocate his whistle. Auburn was the bigger more physical team last night so it was to their advantage for the refs to pocket their whistles

The real difference, one game was played in Bud Walton with something of a national audience or at least national interest. The other was played in T-Town with nothing on the line (SEC already decided) and one team about to end their season due to self imposed post season ban.

No point in putting on a show of how many times you can call a foul and how much of an ass you can make of yourself if barely anyone is watching it other than a few fans from the teams involved.

If we meet Arky in the SEC Championship game and Shows is calling it you can again bet on a foul fest.

At least Shows is consistently bad. some girl from Tuscaloosa must have shaken his world cause he hates the Tide.
