solid defense, decent rebounding, and GREAT free throw shooting won this game. we certainly did not shoot well from the floor. hats of to the players and coaches

No doubt...it's kind of unbelievable but our defense is really good and these guys are playing to win now...we use to just play.
Yes....this game was a grind requiring mental toughness. It's a heck of a lot different finding a way to win a game like this. This was a great win. A game like this will pay dividends come tournament time.
I know neither of Kentucky's bigs are going to just punish you down low but Bama's "bigs" played huge tonight. Great in swapping, rotating, and helpside. Other than a few loose rebounds it's kind of hard to complain about the play of Reese and Gary. Gary plays big and shame on you if you think a step on him is going to give you a free layup.
How many times have we lost games like this? A nice hard fought win. RTR
I just got back. The crowd was awesome for being so small. I love that we were down by 2 with 4 to go and we win by 11. Sweep of KY with Cal there. I never thought I would see it!
People wonder how we blow teams out. Our defense is elite and when our offense is on, we are about unbeatable
In the last 25 years we would have lost this game, but this team’s leadership won tonight’s game. Herb and Petty along with Shack have stepped up when the going gets tough. The confidence that comes from games like the last 2 hopefully will serve us well in postseason.
We would've lost this game the previous 10 years. Oats has these guys locked in.
Great win tonight, hope we are locked in Saturday when we play the Sooners.
Oats said in his post game that the crowd was a factor.
He also said we need several to heal some injuries before Saturday.
I listened to him on the way home. I loved his comment on Petty saying, “Don’t worry about getting me a shot. I just want to win the game.” I think this team is selfless which is why we can continue to win.
our team leaders are winners. also some tuff guys playing hurt is inspiring to the other guys. also inspiring to me.

You are so right buddy. We seemed to always find a way to lose close games, or blow 20 point leads for that matter, in years past. The way we grinded this game while not shooting well from the floor should help to quite the doubters. So thankful to have CNO even though I couldn't believe what I was reading in another thread full of people saying we screwed up not getting Matta?? What do these fans want? We are a projected 1 seed. Not good enough, apparently. WTF are these guys talking about??
I believe this team has learned what it takes to win....tough defense, rebound, and hit free throws! I really like this team.
Definitely going to need to get it rolling again offensively if we are going to leave Norman with a W though!
That post is a couple of years old. Somebody dug it up and refreshed it to throw it in certain posters faces who doubted the Oats hiring. I don't think anybody is currently unhappy with Oats. At least I can't imagine them being unhappy.
I agree. The offense is the talking point for everybody but the defense is what is making people look really bad. I think UK benefited from having played against Bama already so they knew what to expect. They still have several games against opponents who have no idea what's coming.
I am as excited about our FT shooting as our def. If Gary has a fault it seems to be FT. I expect that to improve. I don't know how the Sooners play but if they run with us it might just be a blowout. Making it a half court game is the only way most teams can keep it close .
agree on the free throw shooting. i am sure there were other misses, but gary's 2 are the only two i remember
i will be happy if we get out of norman with a one point win. game scares me. of course so did KY and several others
