Sorry, don't know how to link, but the Head of the Board of Regents at Houston said Lane was "not a safe hire"...he tries to make it sound like Major was the better choice due to his Texas ties, but the underlying message has to do with Lane's reputation...the guy claims the buyout was not the issue, and that Lane said he would sign anything...he also goes on to say he was worried about Lane's choices for coordinators...maybe he saw the potential for Animal House Houston and didn't want to go there...
