Adam Griffith is 5/9 beyond 30 yards and 8/12 overall with no attempts beyond 50 this year. I hate to admit this but was watching the game with a mixed crowd of SEC fans, and I said, "He doesn't do well from the right hash," and sure enough, he sailed it wide right. Not trying to dog Griffith. It is what it is and glad that it hasn't come down to a field goal, and it should be said that Griffith came through in the NC game with a big field goal from beyond 50. There was no time left at the end of the half, so the attempt in this game makes sense even if the odds were not that great, but it raised a couple of questions in my mind.
First, I have no concrete stats for this, but my perception is that Griffith misses more from the right hash than from anywhere else on the field. If that's correct, should we try to get the ball in the middle of the field if setting up a field goal?
Secondly, from beyond 40 would we be better served to try to punt the ball out of bounds inside the 10 and give the defense a chance to score instead of giving the ball back at the point of the attempt?
