I remember one year in pop warner football I had been given a team that had a lot of returning players. We needed a QB so I auditioned everyone, OL, DL, LB DB, RB WR.... everyone. There was a kid who was tall and had a great arm and a pudgy kid who threw tight spirals and was very accurate. Everyone knew I would choose the tall kid but I didn't. QB's are a rare breed and you have or you don't. The tall guy quit and the pudgy kid led us to a championship. We threw a lot for a 12 yr old team and he didn't throw many int's or incompletions. We would have many more good QB's in the pros if coaches would identify the gifted ones early on.
