TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama is holding an open practice this afternoon at Bryant-Denny Stadium at 2:30 in the scorching heat. I will be keeping you guys updated on various points of interest throughout the afternoon. Stay tuned!

— Alabama's QB/C combos are:

Milroe — McLaughlin
Simpson — Dalcourt
Buchner — Ferguson
Lonergan — Brockermeyer
Holstein — Montgomery

— Milroe and Simpson are taking snaps under center on opposite sides of the field to begin practice. It looks like Milroe is working with the first team.

— Freshman offensive lineman Miles McVay is working on the exercise bike. He was on crutches and has a brace on his right knee. Nick Saban did not include him in the injury report earlier this week.

— Alabama's offensive line from left to right: Elijah Pritchett, Terrence Ferguson, Seth McLaughlin, Tyler Booker, J.C. Latham.

— Alabama's first-team defense out of the base (3-4) formation looks like this:

DE — Tim Smith
DT — Jaheim Oatis
DE — Justin Eboigbe
OLB — Chris Braswell
OLB — Dallas Turner
ILB — Deontae Lawson
ILB — Jihaad Campbell
CB — Kool-Aid McKinstry
CB — Terrion Arnold
S — Malachi Moore
S — Caleb Downs

— Isaiah Bond, Ja'Corey Brooks, and Malik Benson are leading the receiving core out on the field right now, taking passes from primarily Milroe and Simpson.

— Alabama's outside linebackers are working in pairs right now. It's Dallas Turner and Chris Braswell, Keanu Koht and Quandarrius Robinson, Jeremiah Alexander and Qua Russaw, Keon Keeley, and Yhonzae Pierre.

--- Inside linebackers are also working in pairs. Kendrick Blackshire and Justin Jefferson, Shawn Murphy and Kyle Flood Jr., Jordan Smith and Ian Jackson, and Deontae Lawson and Jihaad Campbell

--- The tight ends are running routes thrown by Milroe, Simpson, and Buchner. The order of the group is: CJ Dippre, Robbie Ouzts, Amari Niblack, Danny Lewis Jr and Ty Lockwood.

--- There appears to be a few NFL scouts on the sidelines from the Chargers and the Chiefs

--- First team offensive and defensive line were running drills against each other in the end zone. Jaheim Oatis, Tim Smith, and Justin Eboigbe led the defensive line with Dallas Turner and Chris Braswell on the edge.

--- Quandarrious Robinson and Keanu Koht were also able to pick up some reps on the edge with the first team defense as well.

--- Special teams has now taken the field. Leading the punt return crew is Kool-Aid McKinstry, followed by Isaiah Bond, and Cole Adams.

--- From left to right, the first team offensive line is as follows: Kadyn Proctor, Darrian Dalcourt, Seth McLaughlin, Tyler Booker, and JC Latham

--- Elijah Pritchett began to walk into the locker room favoring his left ankle following position drills, which allowed Proctor to step up with the first team O-line

--- Second team offensive line from left to right is: Elijah Pritchett, Olaus Alinen, James Brockermeyer, Jaeden Roberts, and Wilkin Formby

--- Caleb Downs and Devonta Smith are getting some reps with the first team defense

--- Jase McClellan is leading the running back crew out of the backfield, followed by Roydell Williams, and Justice Haynes

--- Milroe is currently running QB in a 6 on 6 drill against the first team defensive secondary.

--- Out of the three main QB candidates, Milroe has certainly been throwing the best ball all afternoon. Simpson and Buchner have struggled in various instances throughout practice.

--- Now getting into some 11 on 11 action, Milroe is under center with Roydell Williams in the backfield. Brooks is out wide along with Benson, including Bond in the slot.

--- Now Ty Simpson has taken the reins of the offense with Haynes in the backfield with him. Benson and Prentice are running the slot positions now with tight end Ty Lockwood and Shazz Preston on the outside.

--- While the skill positions on the offense are changing frequently, Brooks and Benson seem to be getting the most reps on the outside and Bond the most reps in the slot receiver position.

--- Buchner is now under center and is showing his elusive ability in and out of the pocket, as he as broken through for a couple good scrambles.

--- Justin Egoigbe just headed back into the locker room tunnel walking with a very slight limp

--- Egoigbe just emerged back from the tunnel. Still with a minor limp, but it appears to be nothing to be concerned about
