First, I am no an expert, real or pseudo, just a fan
I went to the first game against Spring Hill today nad this is what I saw.
-Seems like Coach Murphy has followed Coach Saban's lead in adapting in that
batters are no longer taking two strikes before swinging. Instead, they are
ATTACKING the first good pitch they see. I saw few called strikes. I say "attacking,"
because I did not see a "dink" swing, they all are taking lusty cuts at the pitches.
-Maddie pitched four innings, giving up a hit and an unearned run. Then Lexi came
in and poor Spring Hill.
-On the left side, Sydney Booker and rookie, Claire Jenkins are electrifying, much
stronger than last year where Peyton was good at charging, but very limited laterally.
Hemphill hit her second homer in two days, this one, a line drive grand slam, against the wind over
the left-center field fence. Jenkins crushed a pitch against the wind off the left field wall
and Dykes got one too much in the air against the wind and the ball was caught against the wall.
Schroeder had a triple too right. Brown and Jenkins turned a double play , a rarity in softball.
Opposition was weak, but defense is same anyway and new batting philosophy is refreshing.
