Good to see so many of you hard at work here on the Housel plan. You must have gotten a pep talk from David recently. All seemed lost for you a few years back when Alabama finally got its act together and hired Saban. With a few careful player acquisitions and Gus, you have gotten competitive again. That's ok, keeps it fun. But the Alabama Crimson Tide history is hard to overcome, isn't it? It comes up all the time, on the recruiting trail, radio talk shows, College Game Day, magazines, books, the damn internet, you tube, twitter, and so on. So you spread your revisionist history in hopes that you can somehow make up that ground Alabama took so long ago - the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, the 1950s, then, hey wait ya'll, let's change our name to Aubie and play some football too. And just when you "won" your first national title and went on probation, damn Coach Bryant shows up and after Aubie barely won against Bryant in his first year, Aubie got shut out 4 years in a row (that's right Aubie did not score a point against Alabama for 4 straight years, 1959, 1960, 1961 and 1962). Aubie went 6-19 against Bryant coached Alabama, and every Aubie win was a close one. This experience has left the Aubie mindset seriously damaged. So much so that I think it may have somehow become part of your DNA and is being passed on to subsequent generations. Well, it is entertaining, and some of my best friends are Aubies. I hope they are doing ok. Especially you, Will Collier. Say hello to the family, and the fambuleh. I know it's hard to stand, but there will be no Aubie watershed. the Tide is serious about it's football and its long history. The Tide will slip a little here and there, but for the most part, the Tide will win, and yes, there will be more like Wade, Thomas, Bryant, and Saban. Again and again, and repeat.... welcome to your Twilight Zone. And Roll Tide.
