I still can't get my head around the fact that of all our coaches it was a Gottfried coached team that got lucky in the tournament and made an elite 8 run. If just one of the teams Wimp had with legit final four ability had that kind of luck we might have won a tournament.
I will always blame Gottfried for leaving the basketball program in a near eternal slumber of a funk. He had teams capable of so much but never did much with it. Then he got his panties knotted when the admin wouldn't pay a few bucks to keep TR Dunn on staff. He wasn't even a mediocre coach after RahRah and TR weren't doing the practice coaching for him and the program steadily declined after TR left.
I always grouch about $tan$bury's time at MSU but reality is Gottfried was the other side of the same coin. He just didn't play that game as well. They were both sleazy at best and mediocre coaches overall.

agree, rah rah scott and tr dunn were better players and coaches.
Gottfried was a smug piece of trash. The few times I spoke to him, he was always very rude.
If I never see the UCLA High Post offense again, it will be too soon!
