Obviously we all know Oats style. He obviously wants to recruit to that style. But I thought at this point, we’d be more guard heavy. We have 0, 4, 10, 22 and 35. All those are forwards/centers and 0 is the only one that can shoot the three. Our best lineup includes two out of these three, 0, 4 and 10. So if it’s 4, 5, 13, 14, and 10 on the court, we have two guys on the court that aren’t a threat at all from three and the court gets really tight for our guards to drive and kick, which is most of what we do.
I like when it’s 0, 4, 5, 13 and 14.
We fall off pretty far when we start subbing.

Burnette probably gives this team an entirely different look right now and possibly that 35/40% 3 point shooter we currently don't have. It seems to have forced us into more conventional lineups.

Very true. You could hear it in Oat’s voice when he announced Burnett getting hurt that we had some issues, since he/we were really counting on his outside shooting to open things up. I, also, don’t know if he , originally, expected Primo to leave. Imagine this team with Primo and Burnett as outside shooters. Boy, that would have been awfully fun to watch!

Amen to that. We are lacking a 2-3 that can knock it down.

I think what Oats really wants is a team full of 6'7" guys that can handle the ball like a point guard. Those guys don't grow on trees.

Disagree a little bit with your assessment. 4 actually has a better 3 PT% than 0. Only by 3%, so I'd say they are pretty much equivalent from beyond the arc.

You may be right. I don’t think it’ll end up that way in the long run though. From what I see, 0 looks like a better shooter. Sometimes when 4 misses, he misses everything.

I think for this offense to reach it's maximum potential we'd need 2 of (Shaq, Quin, Ellis) and 1 of (Gurley or Gary) to be consistent with the 3 point shot in any given game. Not expecting much from JD at this point.

Agree. Hopefully Oats is prepared to win games in different ways bc this team will need it.
