Saban's biography is coming out with a chapter on the Saban to Texas story. Basically it boils down to this: Tom Hicks, the Texas Rangers' owner and Hall, a regent at UT, thought they could offer Saban a large enough contract that he would come since he was under a lot of pressure at Alabama to "three-peat" and under-appreciated. The whole book is probably going to be a good read. http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/college-sports/
Finebaum's book tries to establish the big money that Texas boosters were willing to offer Saban. See here: http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/co...sations-with-texas-no-100m-contract-offer.ece
