Hoops 🏀 Hard to argue against Oats’ recruiting style.

IMO his offensive style is the biggest draw, especially at a non traditional basketball program. He’s always going to be able to snag the Youngbloods, Mallettes, and Holloways because there are hundreds of them available every year.
However, how do you think it would look if Oats, or any coach for that matter, decided to make a bigger long term commitment to the 18 year olds they evaluate and start offering multi year deals with % increases every year? What if Philon, Sherrill, Reid, Cunningham, and Dioubate were locked up through 2026-27? Perhaps this already happens to a large extent or maybe agents would never let their players agree to it. Who knows? With so many coaches and programs completely dismissing high school recruits there does seem to be a great opportunity for a coach to use this to his advantage.
