First, I am not being vague. I can't give a definitive yes or no about a candidate who may not know the definitive yes or no himself at this point.
As I've said all along, Alabama will step up financially to attract the candidate it feels is best for the opening. They did not fire Anthony Grant to tread water. You have to be wary about putting a firm $ figure on it, because those things get negotiated along the way. Certainly, many people,feel that Geegg Marshall is the best coach available who is likely to move. He won't be at Wichita forever, regardless of what happens this off-\season. Does he want $3 million a year? 4 million? Those things get negotiated. Would Wichita match a "crazy offer?" Don't know.
Sometimes, coaches like to be perceived as the "top guy." Shaka Smart doesn't want to be a second choice, one would think.
Archie Miller is a promising young coach and Alabama is aware of that.
