1) Archie Miller - if we don't reach out to him we need to start evaluating the evaluators.
2) Rick Stansbury - Let's face it, if we aren't going to get Marshall or Miller(appear to be great COACHes) we need someone that is going to compete with Howland and Pearl on the recruiting trail. If not, we're going to sit and watch all the talent head to Starkville and Auburn. Look at A&M's recruiting class this year, that's all Stansbury. He'll get out and promote the program like we were clamoring for Grant to do and he desperately wants the job.
3) Avery Johnson - Coached and played in the NBA Finals. That's about all I know about him but I'm sure that will carry a lot of weight with recruits as well.
4) Steve Prohm - UA Grad, appears to be the best coach in Murray State history based off accomplishments and records alone. He isn't going to win the press conference but he'll have the passion about the job that we'd all appreciate. A big drawback is I don't think he's the best recruiter and relies mostly on his assistants in this department(I have a little insight on this) and Pearl/Howland will kill him on the recruiting trail. This is our floor because I know he will take the job. if offered(As would Stansbury).
We're up a creek, gents. That's the only real way to put it and I think it comes down to these guys. Gregg Marshall really screwed us big time by leading us on the way he did. If it's anyone outside of this list I will be surprised and if I had to put my paycheck on it right now it'd be on #4 unfortunately.
