Howard suspended for five games

Utter joke. A whole 5 games for a team finishing out a meaningless regular season. What would the penalty have been if they actually had a good coach, like coach K? A raise? Well, at least, the precedent has been set for punching someone on the court as their second offense in 12 months. Nice to know.
If I was the coach for Wisconsin that got sucker punched, I would immediately be filling a huge lawsuit against UM and Howard.

A lawsuit for a what was basically a hard slap on the side of his head? Come on- that is partly what is wrong with this country.
Howard was wrong/ no doubt. But no one deserves a huge pay day over it. Especially since that Wisconsin assistant was also running his mouth.

While, I honestly don’t disagree with that, because I am 99% of the time anti-lawsuit, if you don’t think if that happened in your everyday office job, you would almost certainly have a large law suit coming your way, even much more so if the perpetrator was not immediately let go, since when the punishment is almost nothing, you are basically condoning such actions. I, unfortunately, have dealt with this first hand a number of times as a manager and business owner(over less). Heck, half the commercials here in Florida are about slip and fall accidents. When I first heard this, I thought that was the punishment for the Wisconsin coach.

Howard appears to have some Emotional Problems in self control and MIchigan is paying him a lot of money to be unstable and not realize as a college coach what the other coach was trying to accomplish with his subs in the game. Wisconsin's coach might have looked bad calling the timeout but his logic made sense as to why he did. He simply was pulling a Saban where he was coaching to the finish.

IMO they were both coaching to the finish, regardless of personnel on the court. Unfortunately for Howard, he lost control of his emotions and it could eventually cost him his job.

We can disagree on if this suspension was enough or not enough. But to say is being suspended for meaningless games is ridiculous.

It the season ended right now, Michigan is in the NCAA tournament. Not the NIT but the tournament. They have 11 losses; Alabama has 10. They have the 3rd toughest schedule in the nation, Alabama has the 1st. They finish the season playing 3 ranked teams in their final 5 games. These games are far from meaningless for Michigan.

The lawsuit thing is also ridiculous and will never happen.

EDIT: Michigan had played the #2 toughest schedule right behind Alabama.

Howard was wrong. Not sure why he hit the assistant but it did look like the assistant pushed one of his players or if he said something out of order. I'd have looked at the role the assistant played in escalating things.

I watched the Wisc coach. Once it got physical he distanced himself. His coaches and players in a conflict and he watched? His leadership in calming things down was lacking.

I dont think Howard should have been fired. The damage to his reputation and the penalty were significant. He has to be on a very short leash.

Both sides lacked discipline and made mistakes that allowed the situation to escalate. If the UM coaches had pushed their players back and the UW coaches pushed their players back it ends quickly. All you have to do to see that I am right is watch how Saban has handled situations like that both during and after the fight. UW got off pretty easy too as far as I'm concerned.
