talking heads yesterday had on a real X's and O's guy to break down the LSU/BAMA game and he said the absolute key is how Jalen Hurts reacts to seeing man coverage for the first time this season
this guy said that Hurts has only faced zone coverage all year which means that a lot of his targets will appear to be open for most of the play until they run into the coverage. He said LSU plays almost strictly man coverage so Hurts will need to now "throw to a spot" where the WR/TE will get to, and have to do so without actually seeing the guy open during the play.
so instead of throwing to a guy he's going to be throwing to a spot. thought it was an interesting point especially with the fact that a) Ridley might be the best route running WR in college football, b) OJ is the best route running TE in football, and c) Dieter was brought here because of his superior route running. If Jalen can trust the play call and throw to the spot where WR/TE will get to, he should be really good tonight but this will be a new test for him
