and I feel like anybody who dislikes NIL to some degree should be supportive of the transfer portal. At least with the portal you are talking about a lot of upperclassmen who have a college resume to help determine their value rather than a 17 yo kid who dominated teams from Walker and Winston county his whole life.
I came to this realization this morning when I went back to the basketball forum and started reading from the very beginning. There are a lot of high school kids we recruited and didn’t sign (and some That Bama did sign) that went on to have little or no success at other schools. Good chance Oats could develop and get something out of these kids but also a big chance that many of them would be busts as well. In some ways I could see the portal having a humbling affect on a lot of high school recruits. “Oh you think you’re good enough for Duke, Bama, UConn, Kansas? Well get in line because the 22 year old kid from UAB has been busting his butt for 4 years and deserves his.”
