The last 9 games of the season bama shot less than 20% from the three point line… before that around the mid 30% range…

When did the slump start? About the time the revelation of two bama bball players being at the scene of the murder.

Also there is this ( SIAP)

We never were a great 3 point shooting team this season, finishing 210th in the nation. Those last 9 games were just plain awful, though.

Rivals of Alabama don’t care, but the amount of attention paid to BM had to affect the young man. He had to have armed escorts during the tourney, that’s a lot for someone who is getting paid millions to play the game to deal with, much less a 19-20yo still in college. And the teams seemed to go as he goes. All that said, probably still should be playing in the Final Four if a couple adjustments were made.

Our slump started right after BM scored 41 pts against USCE and we didn't really play well that game. It was right after the authorities released that abbreviated report about him not being a suspect, but being present that night.

People keep saying this and it is true. But we were at least a 30% three point shooting team before the slump. Our last game we went 3 for 27 (11%).

Id have taken 210 in the sweet 16..

If we hit 30% versus sdsu, bama wins …if my aunt had nutz, she’d be my uncle too

The only place on the stat sheet sdsu was really better was amount fouls 18 to our 22 and three point percentage .. everything else was in our favor or close enough not to matter.

Coincidence??!! …. The scrutiny got to the team. They were talented enough to cover it up against most teams. And lucky to have only lost a few .. that AU game at Coleman-comes to mind

Rivals do not.

I listened to Greg McElroy say big money boosters for U of A were also unhappy with the way it was handled.

Hindsight is 50/50 ( as coach dye used to say).

Maybe if BM /JD were suspended the team would have rallied a bit there. I hate to speculate

When your star player goes 3-19, you are not going to win many ball games. That being said the game was decided with about 2:30 left when JQ missed the front end of a one and one that would have tied the game, if he hits both.

We had our chances against San Diego State, but when their little guard decides to have a career night shooting and you hit only 32% from the field, that is not a formula for success.

Suspended for what though? They were cleared before the next game. I don’t think that would’ve slowed anything by the media or anyone attacking them. They say Oats should have, but then they would’ve complained about the length and so on.

If the players (BM/JB) had been suspended, UA/Oats would have been sending a signal that you do not trust the players to tell you the truth, and you do not believe law enforcement when they say Miller hasn't done anything to be charged with. You can't levy a suspension based on public perception/wishes.

They could have suspended Miller for being the designated driver, for not going into the Bar, for straight up talking to the Police, for parking on the side of the street. I don't know why you suspend Miller or Bradley, unless GMAC knows something we don't know.

I’ll play devil’s advocate :

I guess for bad judgement and transporting the gun. It would have been window dressing and the length would have been the next debate.

I think the lack of anything might tie Oats’ hands in future disciplinary issues

but then he’s basically saying Brandon did something wrong when the police said he didn’t.

Sears went into a slump a month ago and never reemerged. A blind man using a walker could have shot better than Sears the last 4 or 5 weeks. It was horrendous to watch.

I think the turning point came when we had a 9 point lead and SDSU took a time out. After the time out they quickly cut it to 4 and gained momentum. We had our chances.

Agreed. He just couldn't get his mojo back. Miller, Griffen, and Burnett also slumped during the tourney. Thank goodness Bediako stepped up his game. We also had a dose of "Good Q" and "bad Q."

I guess Miller will have to start doing a pat-down of all passengers before they enter his car.
