I need Harper's opinion

Not sure about the starting 5. For one, I’m certain Bama will prob get some transfers to and from. But, Quinerly and JD Davison could be an extremely dynamic guard combination. I believe JD will flourish in Oats system.

To start the season:

JD
Shack
Primo
Gary/Ellis (depending on opponent)
Tchikou

JQ
Gary/Ellis
Burnett*
Bediako*
Miles
Wilson
Holt
KAH

I think JQ stays in his 6th man role as the spark off the bench. Rojas transfers.
The team will be worse defensively, but better offensively. It’s hard to replace Herb and petty defensively, plus Bruners brain made everyone a better defender. We’ll still be good on the defensive side, but we shouldn’t expect to be #3 out of 357 again on defense. Ultimately I think the team is about the same quality as this year and should be a 2nd weekend team.

Would love to hear Harpers thoughts on next year

So you guys are saying our leading scorer and starter the last two years (Shaq) does not crack the starting lineup? Shenanigans😒😒

I would be very surprised if Shack starts next year. He wasn’t a starter at the beginning of this season, so it shouldn’t be a surprise.

Somebody is going to have to work really hard to keep Ellis out of the starting five.

This will be the toughest starting 5 I can predict and I love it. Up and down the roster, there are 8-10 guys that I can see become starters. It will all depend on development over the summer and how the freshmen are. Here are MY starting 5 to start the season based on what I know about these guys and how I think they'll develop.

1) JQ
2) JD Davison
3) Primo
4) Gary
5) Tchikou

Now, I am extremely back and forth on Shack or JD starting. Shack has the experience and is a better shooter and its probably best JD comes off the bench to give another ball handler to replace JQ when he goes out, but I will go with JD's elite athleticism, speed, and passing ability. It won't hurt to have to elite PG's on the floor at the same time. However, I can definitely see JD starting out on the bench to get acclimated, this is just what I would do.

Second Unit:
Shack
Ellis
Burnett(?)
Wilson
Bediako (?)

Oats has a good problem to have next season.

How is JD as an outside shooter? With that starting 5 we’d be fairly limited from beyond the arc, maybe? That’s the only reason I think Shack starts.

He's about a 30-35% shooter in high school, but didn't shoot it much because he could get to the rim whenever he wanted. JQ and Primo are very good shooters, JD can be above average, Tchikou will be about like Reese in terms of efficiency early on I think. Gary is just not very good at all shooting but is the best rebounder on the team. I think that starting 5 will be plenty adequate shooting the ball.
