Hey G.O.A.T., got a question for ya: Are players judge in the NBA combine individually like the NFL or within a team concept?I thought that was pretty much common thinking. He's been protected as a mid to late 20s pick. Those players can easily fall to the second round. With a good combine, he could jump in the teens but he has to have a really good combine.
the thing I disagree with is him coming back to “work on his game.” The NBA and CBB are so different, plus he will get better coaching for the NBA if he leaves. No having to go to class, no limits on practice time, and he can hire himself a shooting coach. If someone will draft him in the first round, he's better off going pro.If there was ever a player who needed an extra year, it's JD. Whomever drafts him will have a lot of work to do.

It's a bit of both but they place a lot of emphasis on the individual shooting and dribbling drills.Hey G.O.A.T., got a question for ya: Are players judge in the NBA combine individually like the NFL or within a team concept?
Oh boy! He may do okay shooting, but dribbling may be a problem. It's a bit of both but they place a lot of emphasis on the individual shooting and dribbling drills.
He's going to blow them away with his athleticism. He's not a bad ball handler; with him, it's more his decision-making where he gets himself into trouble driving into the defense with nowhere to go. I could be wrong, but I think he's going to be a much better NBA player than a college player.Oh boy! He may do okay shooting, but dribbling may be a problem.
If nothing else, in the NBA most of his teammates should be capable of catching and making use of his passes. He probably had 1/4 or more of his turnovers this year because a pass was flat missed by the receiver that was usually someone in or around the paint. Maybe it was because it was a reckless or poorly timed pass but it was catchable in a scoring position. Or he was anticipating passing somewhere and realized too late that no one was going to be where they were supposed to be and he had to try some dumb cross court jump ball pass. He's going to blow them away with his athleticism. Good Lord, did you just start watching sports?JD can’t afford to play another year in college. His stock has dropped considerably after year 1 at Bama. If an NBA team is willing to take a flyer on him in the second round he needs to go. If he stays and expects a different result in year 2 he is fooling himself…he can’t shoot, he is not a good ball handler, he turns the ball over way too often and he has no concept on how to defend. He better get what he can get if he can get it.
What did he say that was incorrect?Good Lord, did you just start watching sports?
The NBA drafts players on the first round all the time that need to work on their games.the thing I disagree with is him coming back to “work on his game.” The NBA and CBB are so different, plus he will get better coaching for the NBA if he leaves. No having to go to class, no limits on practice time, and he can hire himself a shooting coach. If someone will draft him in the first round, he's better off going pro.
Only someone who never played or even watched sports would think that a player has no chance to improve their gameWhat did he say that was incorrect?
Pretty much all of it. JD’s a true freshman with elite potential. Do we seriously think he can’t continue to improve his game? What did he say that was incorrect?
He is talking about at the present time. And what he said is basically correct. Did not say he could not improve. God knows he needs to in all areas.Only someone who never played or even watched sports would think that a player has no chance to improve their game
But as I've heard Wimp say, “you can't argue with someone that don't know nothing”
Sure he can improve/ but what he stated for the present time is correct. Not a good shooter, plays little D and is a turnover machine.Pretty much all of it. JD’s a true freshman with elite potential. Do we seriously think he can’t continue to improve his game?
Ouch! 😎Only someone who never played or even watched sports would think that a player has no chance to improve their game

I know plenty/ have played plenty and have watched forever. Your issue is anyone who disagrees with you is automatically wrong.
Right… but his post isn’t about the present. He said he’s fooling himself if he thinks he can improve himself in year 2. JD is literally the epitome of a player who will improve dramatically after his freshman year.Sure he can improve/ but what he stated for the present time is correct. Not a good shooter, plays little D and is a turnover machine.
I don’t hate the kid. Where are you getting that? But the hype just did not match the on court results remotely. Have seen many true freshman light years ahead of him in nearly every fundamental aspect of the game.“If he says and except a different result in years 2 he's fooling himself”
I don't know about you but that sounds to me like he's saying JD can't improve. Yore irrational hate for that kid blinds you...
Sometimes it’s no one’s fault. I’m sure Goat and others would point to Oats and we have some who would point at the kid. Sometimes a player is just overhyped coming out of high school. And it’s often a kid like JD with insane athleticism who played 2A basketball.I don’t hate the kid. Where are you getting that? But the hype just did not match the on court results remotely. Have seen many true freshman light years ahead of him in nearly every fundamental aspect of the game.
I know/ it is all Oats fault. 🙄🙄
You clearly hate the kid which is very weird to me.I don’t hate the kid. Where are you getting that? But the hype just did not match the on court results remotely. Have seen many true freshman light years ahead of him in nearly every fundamental aspect of the game.

Not sure where you are getting the “ hate” aspect. He was simply the most over hyped 5 star guy I have ever seen since Trevor Lacey. You clearly hate the kid which is very weird to me.
What I blame Oats for is what I have blamed him for all year, not adjusting to the players on THIS year's team. I still don't know how anyone watching this team still not realize that the system they played each and every game did not fit the skill set of the majority of the players on this team.
The players never bear any responsibility according to the GOAT. The 2A basketball comment is very legit.Sometimes it’s no one’s fault. You live in a world of logical fallacies. The players never bear any responsibility according to the GOAT. The 2A basketball comment is very legit.
And you live in a world “ let me tell you how right I am”. You would argue with a rock. What I have said about JD is “ logically spot on”. Good God get over your self righteousness and overbearing efforts to be correct all the time. You live in a world of logical fallacies.
You seem a bit too sensitive to be on a message board...And you live in a world “ let me tell you how right I am”. You would argue with a rock. What I have said about JD is “ logically spot on”. Good God get over your self righteousness and overbearing efforts to be correct all the time.
Will agree/ Oats did not adjust this season. But to always defend the players on EVERYTHING is ridiculous.
Great post/ and better advise. Thanks.Pwestbrook…I appreciate your opinion. Neither you nor I said JD couldn’t get better…he can get better. But right now he isn’t worthy of a 1 and done 5 star status. In fact, just as I said if he gets drafted he would do himself proud to take what he can get. As it stands right now he isn’t anywhere close to living up to his hype. His fundamentals are less than Britton Johnson’s and it will take a monumental effort in a non fundamental rich CNO system for him to significantly improve. I coached Chris Porter in AAU and suggested to him to leave AU after his JR. season. He didn’t and went from a lottery draft choice with a guaranteed contract to a 2nd round draft choice and a non guaranteed contract. It cost CP a lot of money. JD ain’t no where near as good as CP was. The NBA loves athleticism but at some point you have to be a good basketball player and JD isn’t that now. Pwestbrook…taking G.O.A.T serious is like taking Joe Biden, AOC or Majorwood serious…you know what I mean…it is just a waste of time. RTR
