Thoughts on any real implications of the CFP decision long-term. Next year, can bank that the auto bye for conference champs will be gone as its nuts with BSU and ASU getting byes over Texas. Ironically, the decision this year probably had a lot to do with FSU lawsuit and ACC disgruntlement over last year and pacifying the All Crummy Conference.
My guesses:
1. SEC can forget the 9 game conference schedule. That is toast. Saban implied that as well today.
2. A reduction in the # of Power 5 non-conference games, At most, expect 1 and definitely expect Alabama to zap the two game approach and perhaps even cancel scheduled games with ND and OSU. This will hurt ESPN bank BADLY if SEC teams do this - payback is a b*****. GS pretty much said this today.
3. Non-Big Ten and SEC conferences will modify their playoffs to ensure a weaker team not likely to make the playoff otherwise has a shot to get in with just the conference championship (especially if the autobyes continue).
Other speculations?
