Bud Casey. He said that his proudest day, as a football player was when Coach Bryant (he always called him, Coach Bryant) offered him a scholarship to Alabama.
Some will remember him as the assistant coach at Auburn that recruited Bo Jackson, but I met Bud when he was Assistant AD at Troy, during the transition to DI. He was a character, always joking. I remember when he recruited a scrawny 6’3” player to Troy, because Alabama and Auburn did not think the kid could play in the SEC, Demarcus Ware.
After his junior year at Alabama he transferred to Northeast Oklahoma and the in the NFL with the Dolphins. He went into coaching, where he eventually was Running Backs Coach at the Barn, going to Troy with Coach Blakeney.
