the article is written by Barkley Truax If you can access the article it is very telling the spirit of the team and will further enlighten all of us the mentality and total lack of commitment with the exception of one player to simply come to a voluntary basketball shoot around before the game against ND. Only One player showed. Hope someone can access the article share it with the board. It provides a lot of answers this current team and why it finished as it did.

Do you know where the article is located? I would love to read it.

Navy, it came across my on my phone and the best i can tell is it came from...On3..whatever that is.

The title is, (Nate Oates explains how Jahvon Quinerly injury impacts NBA Draft plans)
Hope you can find it and post.

Just came across another article (Nate Oates reveals troubling information about 2021-22 Alabama team written by James Fletcher. That is the article that reveals the information about the voluntary shoot around.. again it comes from On3.

As has been mentioned the voluntary shooting thing has been absolutely blown out of proportion. Friend of mine in Tampa is a head basketball coach of a Division 2 school here in town and he used to coach with Will Wade at his previous school. He said usually no one shows for those because they’ve already gotten their work in and they want to keep their legs. Anyone showing for those is the exception.

There were some bad apples on this team and we will not really know what happened until a player(s) give their side of the story. We’ll get this information just as soon as they leave. You can’t beat the teams we beat early and with no significant injuries fall apart as we did without some major internal unrest.

Kobe Bryant put how many hours in the day before games shooting the basketball and improving his skills. He was dedicated and he conditioned himself and his legs to the task of his being the best he could be. Yeah, shoot arounds I would think are important if one's mine is in the right place to being the best.

But if this is the norm for all schools, this isn’t a big deal. I’ve read some things on Twitter from people that would really know and they said this shoot around thing is nothing. It’s on Oats for mentioning it and making an excuse and allowing the media to make it something, when he knows it’s nothing. He has a lot to learn about what he says to the media.

Some of Bama fans amaze me when they post stuff from crap they've heard or when they don't read the whole articles.

he said that Quinerly was “the only guy that went” to a “voluntary shooting deal” Thursday night in San Diego. Asked a follow-up for context, Oats said three players showed up for another voluntary shoot-around Friday morning.

We kind of made it voluntary because we wanted guys to be smart making sure their legs were fresh,” Oats said. “And some guys had gone the night before [Wednesday] and [Quinerly] didn’t. So then he went [Thursday]. We had shooting times at a high school gym every night here because our guys get in the gym a lot on their own back home. He shot it really well last night.

Yea… this whole thing got blown way up due to postgame frustration. Oats was not blasting the team in this instance.. simply was relaying how hard quinerly had prepared and how unfortunate it was for him to have to go out that way

But he should have just mentioned the extra work JQ had put in, not threw through rest of them under the bus by saying they weren’t at something they aren’t normally at.

This ^^^
Our guys needed all the shooting practice they could get. They drew more iron than United State Steel.

I'm happy you posted this but unfortunately, the narrative has already been written on these players being “bad apples,” “lazy,” “attitude problems” by most of our fans, many of which will either not see this or see and and blow right by it.
