Avery Johnson and the Alabama basketball coaching staff are eyeing three players from the Southeast Elite AAU basketball organization.

According to director of marketing and support Roger Brewster, Coach Johnson and assistant Antoine Pettway are eyeing power forwards Alex Reese and Kevin Morris, as well as shooting guard Spencer Newman.

Johnson has strong interest on 2017 top 50 recruit Alex Reese, the 6-9 forward from Pelham. In 2015, Reese averaged 21 points and 9 rebounds. Reese is a stretch four that can shot the jump shot. His play style is similar to Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki, who Johnson coached from 2005-2008.

“I told Alex that if you work hard every college in the country will want you,” Brewster said.

Last week, Johnson and Pettway went to see Reese and the rest of the Southeast Elite team play in the Under Armour Association Finals in Atlanta, GA.

Other schools keeping their eyes on Reese include, Auburn, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Clemson, Murray State, and UAB.

2016 recruit Spencer Newman and Kevin Morris are also on Alabama’s radar, although neither one has yet to receive an offer. Morris, from Dothan, has interest from Gonzaga, Texas Tech, TCU, Troy, and UAB.

Newman, from Mobile recently came back from a team camp at Florida State and has received interest from Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, and Oklahoma State.
