The PAC-12 minus 3 may be on the way to major Athletic obscurity. It now appears like serious rumors are starting to emerge that Washington and Oregon may be the next on the move to the BIG10 and Arizona, Arizona State and Utah may be headed to the Big12.
If that happens the PAC 12 would be left with Washington State, Oregon State, Stanford and California, which is not much to keep a conference together. Yes, those four teams could merge with the MWC and have a pretty good non power 5 league; however even without the moves, the PAC12 will have a rough time selling their TV rights in a shrinking market. When you add that to the fact that the BIG12 needs named Stated schools, it is only a matter of time until ASU, Arizona and Utah are offered spots in the Big12. Utah has been a non-power five recently, so unless the PAC12 comes up with a solution soon, I do not look for Utah to hang around. Add that to the fact that the PAC12 TV rights are probably going to shrink drastically and their contract is up for renewal now.
I think the day is rast approaching where we have two major conferences, with the BIG10 adding four more a piece. I think the Big12 is moving late to the train wreck.
