I love this kids energy and what he brings when he comes in. He still needs to work on taking care of the ball but when Houston was getting every friggin' offensive rebound he was in there mixing it up and grabbing boards. I ask because there's no way I thought Primo would be a one and done. He's barely played and been sent down to whatever league that is for awhile. JD still seems raw but the NBA doesn't seem to care. Look forward to seeing him get better this year and would love to see him stay. He's a stud for sure.

He has progressed very well. If he can consistently play this way throughout the season I don't see any reason for him to come back. Go fine tune your game getting paid.

No need to stick around. Just like Primo the NBA drafts a lot of players on potential. The only way he stays another year is the NIL money comes close to the NBA money, and he's projected second round. But there's very little chance He's not a lottery pick. With the way we are recruiting we better just get use to it.

I wish the young man well, but he's got work to do to become NBA ready. He has talent, but needs to be fine-tuned (i.e., taking care of the ball, taking more jump shots, making more jump shots). I love his speed, hustle, fearlessness.

JD is most definitely 1 & done and could be a lottery pick.

Guess those scouts look for future potential and are willing to grab guys and let them grow a few years. Primo is averaging two points a game and has only played in 8 games. He's averaging about 7 minutes a game. When he got sent down to the G league he averaged almost 17 a game so the skills are there. I didn't think he was anywhere near ready to compete at the most elite level in the world and he was drafted high in the first round. From the players perspective I get it, go get paid to do what you love. Seems like NBA just polluting the college game grabbing these guys who are not ready yet. Maybe it's just been so long since we've had players of this caliber I forgot how it usually works. Hope JD continues to work on outside shot and reduce turnovers, he's a special player and really enjoy watching him.

As a Bama fan I hope he comes back and enjoys the ride. Only get one chance to be BMOC and it's a time in his life he'll always remember fondly. Playing for Oats will make him better if he plays through his sophomore year, plus NIL money and insurance can keep him in good financial stature.

But really - do any of us believe he'll be back? I would be shocked. No doubt he has work to do on decision making, his three point shot, etc - but the NBA now drafts largely based on potential, not a finished product, and JD does some freak of nature stuff every game. Case in point the last minute vs Houston. We would not have one without his putback dunk and defensive high rising abilities.

I'm glad he's with us now and will enjoy his hair and his talents while we have it. This team is so much fun this year.

100% agree he has that "it" that can't be taught. I will just enjoy him while we have him and hope he'll be cutting down the nets next year several times.

JD is gone but I wonder about JQ and Shack. Prior to this season I just never could see Shack being drafted. He has shut me up. Wonder if a mid 2nd grade for JQ will be good enough for him to leave. Probably but I can hope.

Shack has been much better at playing under control and make some clutch 3s so far. Love JQs game too. Takes it to the rack leaving guys in the dust. Would love one more year of JQ but I think Shack may be ready to jump if grade is mid 2nd.

I could be totally wrong obviously, but I just don’t think Shack will be drafted. Great scorer and big time college player… just don’t think he has the tools for the NBA. Hope I’m wrong.

I've always felt the same Lou just speaking athletically. However, it's hard to deny that he is playing fantastic. I can see him as a mid-late 2nd if he keeps it up. Hope the feedback says "not yet" and he returns but he seems determined to get out of here.

He does not even rate as "raw" at this point in his career. Give him this year and one more to see if his shooting ability improves. Being a great athlete gets you no where in the NBA. Because everybody in the league is a great athlete. Let's see how hard he works to improve after this season. He is playing in a great system to showcase his abilities. Glad he is on our team.

Shack's game has gone to another level. Reminds me of Fred Van-Fleet of the Toronto Raptors. Thought he was a longshot before this season. Now I think he can definitely make an NBA roster.

Yes, one and done……UNLESS he can earn as much or more $$$$ at Bama next season than as a lottery draft choice in the NBA.

Don’t feel sorry for him; Shack can make a good living overseas playing

Just judging from his start so far, definitely an impact player but agree with the poster above about improving his shooting skills. Would like to see him stay at Bama another year.

JMO but I think JD is already playing at a level better than Primo did at any point last season. He may not put up a ton of points, but seems like he's going to consistently grab a bunch of boards and assist.

Just my 2 cents. I probably watch the NBA more than most on this board; not that it means a hell of a lot. JD will leave after this year and be a lottery pick.

For those who think his athleticism will not be as big a factor, you're wrong. He a Russell Westbrook type of player. The NBA has changed to the point that you can't hand check at all. There is no zone defense. Teams switch off all the time, which drives me crazy.

JD will be able to get to the basket at will; he is shooting 38% from 3 when he is able to set his feet this year which I think translates to about 32% in the NBA. He will have to work on shooting on the move better but I am confident he can.

I always say if a player can be a high draft pick you have to go even if your game is not as defined as it should be. You get better coaching at the next level and it's your job. No more going to class, no more limits on how much time you can spend with your coaches. You can just work on your game.

I agree. And I always worry about these guys not really developing in the G league. I truly believe if Primo had stayed another year he would really developed by becoming a more explosive and consistent player scoring off the dribble drive. Hopefully he’ll make it to THE league and be a major player. But I still have my doubts.

NBA teams cant get enough shoots. And Shack is as pure as anybody in the college game. Look at the lakers tonight. Guy ive never heard of hits the game winning three in OT at the buzzer. And hes on the court with Westbrook, Lebron and AD because hes a shooter. He also can create his own shot. Its no mystery this year that he can shoot, yet hes still leading or was leading the conference in scoring. We will see if he keeps up this pace in SEC play with the best backcourt defender on him likely, if he does hes getting drafted imo
