This post is edited to add this note tonight from a Tweet by Andrew Bone mentioning that a player from Prattville committed to Michigan today..

Bone just tweeted this announcement ... So this tour of the South has apparently landed him one more commitment:

@AndrewJBone: Dytarious Johnson, linebacker from Prattville HS in Ala., commits to #Michigan. @TimS_Wolverine @Rivals

Here's the Rival's page on this player..

Original post:

It's no wonder the SEC is not happy with the satellite camps the BIG and others are putting on across the South. Michigan begins with their 'Summer Swarm' camp tour today in Prattville. There is a lot of coverage from the national media at this camp and I am guessing it is due (partly) to the SEC recently passing new rules that will allow the SEC coaches to do the same next year anywhere in the country if the NCAA doesn't outlaw these satellite camps (I'm not counting on that to happen).

I'm sure Alabama and Auburn coaches are really annoyed at this invasion of these satellite camps which is nothing more than a recruiting tour of the South for BIG schools.

Here below is some of the coverage today of this Prattville camp:

The ongoing controversy of satellite camps flexes its muscle Friday.

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh will be in Alabama’s and Auburn’s backyard in Prattville. In the past, the SEC has prohibited its coaches from taking part in such camps, but that won’t continue in the future.

The SEC will send a proposal to the NCAA in an effort to ban the ‘recruiting camps’, but if that doesn’t work, the conference’s coaches will hit the road next summer and do the exact same thing.

Harbaugh and Michigan picked up its first commitment from its first satellite camp Thursday in Indiana. The Wolverines also secured a commitment from Prattville running back Kingston Davis in early April.

A growing number of coaches from the Big Ten, Big 12 and Pac-12 are taking part in satellite camps around the country.

Meanwhile, Michigan’s ‘Summer Swarm’ camp tour will hit nine camps in nine days, via SportingNews.com.

The following are the SEC states Harbaugh will tour:

  • Friday: Prattville Elite Football Camp (Prattville, Ala.)
  • Saturday: USF One Day Camp (Tampa, Fla.)
  • Monday: Aldine “Elite” College Football Camp (Houston)
  • Tuesday: Dallas Showtyme Elite Football Camp (Grand Prairie, Texas)

Jim Harbaugh is psyched. He told players here, "A day in football. You know what that means? That means we can accomplish anything."
