Let me start by saying although we have some question marks and many challenges, I am very optimistic about the fall. I believe if a few things go our way, this team could be scary good come November.
After recently watching some games from last year (LSU, Auburn, but West Virginia and Arkansas in particularly), a few things stood out to me that need to improve this fall and in the years to come...
First, we have got to start creating turnovers on D again. We had a turnover margin of -2 last year, good for 71st nationally, 11th in the conference. We only forced 20 turnovers in 14 games (compared to 31 and 29 in our title runs in 2009 and 2012, respectively).
Another thing that stuck out like a sore thumb was our return game (see Arkansas game). I'm tired of having to hold my breath every time the ball leaves the opposing teams punter's foot. With all of the athletes/playmakers we bring in every year, we should be making electric plays and WINNING games because of special team play, not losing (or almost losing) them.
Sorry for the long post, just wanted to share a few things I've noticed...
Thoughts??
