I admit that several weeks ago on this board I questioned his future with this team due to his struggles with the 3. Even with that part of his game lacking it is hard not to love this kid. With that being said what do you think he develops into? Any certain players that he reminds you of?

I know this is going to sound crazy and I'm not talking about offense but just his style of rebounding. As he is battling for rebounds he does a lot of tipping to his self. That's the way Dennis Rodman use to rebound with the pistons and the bulls but thankfully that's the only similarity.

i think he the kind of player that will play here 4 years but may never start. if their is a underclassman on this team that is pushed out it will probally be rojas.

Many of us that don't follow these recruits too closely probably underrate some of these guys that aren't as high profile or 3 pt. shooters. He's been underutilized due to coming back from injury last year is what it seems at this point.

Looking him up I see ratings that match what I see on the court. Was rated #12 SF and 64 overall by espn. 4 star. He's impressed I think all of us in his energy and ability to create dynamic plays running the court and crashing the boards.

Charles Barkley lol. Please don’t think I’m saying he is that good or close. But he seems to fully grasp the art of rebounding and the physicality of it which leads to him being a monster down there despite being pretty significantly undersized
exactly. long way from being as good as barkley, but same style of play. not tall or long, but still can mix it up in a way he can rebound against the guys with more heighth and lenght.

You always need a 'cleanup on aisle 7' type guy that will do the dirty work & motivate more gifted athletes to wake up and play

Gary has a 6'-11'' wingspan so he's playing taller than his listed height of 6-6

He gives up about 4" to Bruner, but just seems to play so much bigger than him.

I've said this before, but he should be getting all of Bruner and Rojas minutes with exception of needing a breather or foul trouble.

Similar wing span as Herb.

I don't know basketball well enough to give a quality opinion but I don't see him as a pro player.

He is extremely valuable to a college team and program though. His effort, toughness and hustle genuinely give a spark to the rest of the team and he does make plays. Rebounds and put backs all day. I love the guy;

Yea it’s just hard to be an nba guy in general, especially undersized. However, I will wait to see how his offensive game develops over the next few years. Someone mentioned Draymond Green above, which is a great comparison to someone currently in the league. But Draymond was not nearly as good of an offensive player until after a couple years in the NBA. Gary needs to develop a solid shot and he could have a chance. He has a knack for rebounding that can’t be taught, some just seem to get it and he does

You are definitely right. Like I said, I don't know basketball well enough to have a quality opinion so I could easily be wrong. It would be awesome to see Gary play in the NBa
